eBay Scam
I just received this info from a very close friend:
In November I bought a Ducati 999 superbike for one of my employers as a Christmas bonus, bought it through ebay, paid $500.00 through paypal and $9,000.00 with a bank transfer. when the money was recieved all communication stopped. the guy had a 253 positive feedback so I had no reason to distrust him. A couple of weeks later, its listed again on ebay under a different seller with the same e-mail address, so I hit "buy now" 'cause I already own the bike, again, no communication. Then last week, its listed again on ebay, talk about balls. This is probably a waste of time but I'll put it out to you guys anyway, 'cause I cant afford to write off $9,500.00. The first guy that I paid, Joe Williams 13133 Palm PL. Cerritos CA. # 2 Amanda Corona 4740 E. 7th ST Long Beach CA. The bank transfer went to, Maria Williams Wescom Credit Union Pasadena CA. They all have the same email address. Just a warning. As for the three named above, there are some bikers going to go talk to them. Yeah, two-letter bikers! |
Damn, I wanna work for a guy who gives out Ducatis.
Where do I apply? |
You expected to get that Ducati by post? You meet the man who sells it, take Ducati and pay him cash. This is how it works on Ebay.

I know someone who would love to take a plane trip for you

file an item not received dispute with ebay. Also, file under paypal buyer protections & also have a reversal done on the bank transfer.
I'm sure there's several measures you can take to get this resolved & shut this fucker down. |

Don't ever send that much money to someone. You need to use an escrow service. They hold your money and they don't give it to the seller until you have received the merchandise. If the seller doesn't want to use an escrow service then they are probably scamming. |
ouch. that sucks man.
best of luck in getting your shit. |
10 bucks says it's a stolen ebay account. people buy/sell those fuckers left and right because of "the guy had a 253 positive feedback so I had no reason to distrust him." right there...

Yea it happened to my parents their ebay account was hacked into and they listed a motorcycle on it.
I sell business equipment on ebay. If you ever buy something big pay with paypal through a credit card, not with the funds in your account, or a check. That way if anything happens you can dispute with your credit card company. It has happened to me, and the seller is all but helpless. That is why I dont' always take paypal for big items. |

I think motorcycle listings are the biggest target from scammers.
When I was looking for a bike and was the highest bidder to a local listing, a guy emailed me saying that he was in the military, the bike was in greece - not in the next city over - and I didn't have to pay for any shipping fees. I had to pay tax fees + the bike (obviously), but it wouldn't come until 4 weeks later. I cancelled the bid since that was a huge red flag... but it happened a lot during that time I was looking. The bikes were overseas and I was to send the money first. No thanks. |
ok sorry to say you lost your money
hope other people learn from this |
Contact Ebay/PayPal... They'll block the other guy's account and hopefully give you your money back!
If not... then just a lesson learned I guess... |
