why don't more people use Skype ?
 

it's free and the quality is great but still so many people aren't using it.
so I asked my friends why?

most of my friends say: "I'm too lazy to install it"
the ones that used to use it say: "No reason...." or "don't know"
the ones that DO use it sometimes and still keep call my to my cell phone from their cell phone when they are at the office say: "oh right, Skype, I forgot" but the next time - they use their cell phone again.

what's up with that ? what is wrong with people ? why isn't as natural to them as it is to me ?

i love skype man, cheap rates for phone calls too. The conference chats and all make a very user friendly IM client and more.

Many people is choosing Google Talk, I think because of that less people use Skype.

Skype is great, I use it a lot but not for work.

I don't use it because I have 4 other programs and how many do you need really?

I think you mean, more people in the U.S.. Plenty of Europe seems to be using it.

It is actually a very good messenger by comparison.

I wonder about that too, it's an amazing product

I use it daily. I have a voip number with voicemail and I use the chat as well and I love it!

Skype is great! I use it for all my international calls and chats with people that use Skype :) Amazing sound quality. I set up a phone number in States, and can take calls straight to my cellphone when I'm not around the computer. Skype truly makes the office - a wireless office.

i dont have a mic hooked up to this computer

I use ww.voipcheap.com Mainly because I can call voip out numbers(phone lines) for free as well in many countries. So can I call for free in my country(The Netherlands) to the USA and many other countries. Also txt messages are just 0.05 cents

And I like that I can use my 'normal' phone

Its only free to other Skype users and I dont know anyone who has it...

Skype is way better than Yahoo or MSN. I love it!

I think not many people use Skype because they are lazy and do not want to download it, than install it, and fill up the registration form. They are afraid to spend 30 minutes to these things.

I hate the phone and rarely use it, and I already have icq aim and msn going, why add another?

if they came out with a good skype plugin for trillian I would definitely pick it up, but I am not installing another piece of software just cause it sounds cool, aol and icq are the standards, i doubt anyone will ban me from working with them if I don't install skype

I can always tell when one of our offshore customers is using skype:

1. Phone rings.
2. I answer.
3. No response.
4. I keep saying, "hello."
5. Call disconnects.

Yes. ICQ sucks. I dont know anybody outside the adult world who still uses it. Come on people, move to something good.

Overall... a no brainer.

I use my cell for LD calls. When my son was in Japan he had a US number so I could use my cell to call him there too. Just haven't found a reason to use Skype though I did sign up before I knew my son would have a US number.

skype is more than just a thelephony proggy.. it's an instant message program as well which I have found to be the best that I have used so far.. and I have used em all...

I don't use it because my phone uses VoIP and comes with the ADSL connection. Free calls to anywhere in the world :)

Yeah, I use Skype too,but for work ICQ.When I call my sister in US we use Skype,she has wifi phone and the sound is good...Skype is better than ICQ most of the people used ICQ out of habit and for those 30 min. mentionеd above........

I use it to call my friends and family in Canada, love the cheap long distance rates. I usually leave it disconnected when I'm not using it though, I don't treat it as a telephone where I'm reachable at... Most day to day communication between my friends and I is done via IM anyway.

i've been using it a bit lately and like it so far. i have no interest in using it to talk over, i don't even have a mic on the computer but for chatting its good.

I use Skype. It's a question, too, why many people don't use it.

I use Skype every day to communicate with people in our company and I've had several adds from webmasters in the last month.

Everyone missed the main feature of it though: ENCRYPTION!
