I'm browsing GFY on my new 30" LCD

and it sucks. I hate widescreen and its completely overwhelming. It hurts my eyes unless I make it very dark and then everything is ugle. Don't buy one. I'll be giving this one away.

drjones 01-17-2007 03:54 PM

I'll take it

MetaMan 01-17-2007 03:55 PM

dude i own a room in the local famous player theatre, people complain about the sound banners imagine when i mouse over them and the dolby surround kicks in.

Violetta 01-17-2007 04:20 PM

19 is more than enough...

Could you please post a picture? I bought a 24" lcd recently and I love it. It's the perfect size for full view.

ready lube 01-17-2007 05:15 PM

Just give it some time, I bet you come to love it. I use an apple 20 inch lcd and it took a few days for me to get used to it after having a 17 studio display for so long.

woj 01-17-2007 05:17 PM

what resolution does that thing run at?

Jman 01-17-2007 05:18 PM

Good for you, I;m browsing GFY and scratching my nuts ;-)

1280 X 800. For whatever reason I can't get it to work at 2560X1600. Its an option so I'm guessing my video card supports it, but its not working. Maybe I don't have the best drivers.

Anyway, I called my mom and told her that her favorite son got her a big monitor.

I have had a 21" crt in the past. I'm getting dual 21.3" syncmasters now. They appear to be the biggest monitors that are not widescreen.

shekinah 01-17-2007 05:27 PM

If you don't like it just, drop it off:)

Do you have any pictures? ;)

24" is 1900x1600 and also widescreen but I do like it a lot, it does work faster and more efficient. However, 30" might be to much.

Kard63 01-17-2007 06:45 PM

As you can see, it makes my 21" look like a 15".

Sweet..I want one of those badboys..off to Dell

V_RocKs 01-17-2007 06:53 PM

The larger it is, the further away you need to move it.

abshard 01-17-2007 07:05 PM

you need to get a better video card that can handle the native resolution. It will look much better at the native resolution

Spudstr 01-17-2007 07:10 PM

Dell has their 30" lcds for 1049 in their outlet center.

abshard 01-17-2007 07:14 PM

btw i have the 24in dell. When i first got it i was actually feeling nauseous after viewing it for a while. I lowered the brightness to about 30% and moved it back on my desk a little bit and now its perfect. I also have 3 samsung 204b 20.1 in monitors. But i prefer the dell.

rodney25 01-17-2007 07:17 PM

That's very kind of you.

Kard63 01-17-2007 07:23 PM

I have already removed the monitor from my desk and informed mom she hit the monitor lottery. Even with a better video card i would still hate widescreen, it would still be too bright (i turned it down but everything was ugly), and too overwhelming (my desk doesn't offer many options as to where to put the monitor. I have to be 2.5 to 3 ft away), and there would be no room for duals. I think I'll be much happier with two 21.3" samsungs at 4:3.

CaptainHowdy 01-17-2007 07:24 PM

You show-off... hehehe!

Slick 01-17-2007 07:36 PM

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 214T which of course is a 21.4 inch monitor and I think it's perfect. I often think about going with a big one like that, but feel that it'd be too big.

reynold 01-17-2007 07:45 PM

Your mom must be happy by now.

I ordered two 214T's but all the stores I found them at said they were 21.3".

MBS Auto 01-17-2007 08:10 PM

oooooh nice!!! I want one :(

adultseo 01-17-2007 08:12 PM

Isn't Iiyama the best?

In The Netherlands they offer superior service, if anything happens with your monitor after 2 years. They will pick it up, provide a replacement monitor of the same size for free within aprox. 1 day and fix it at low costs (e.g. 100 euro).

d00t 01-17-2007 08:17 PM

lol yeah, dont need that kinda crazy stuff

Kard63 01-17-2007 09:09 PM

No one pointed out that I said "ugle" instead of ugly. The nice crew must be workign gfy tonight.

inthecrack 01-18-2007 12:02 AM

I've got 2 Apple 30' on my computer and another 2 30s on some of my other work stations. It's pretty handy for certain applications. I'm actually thinking of adding another one (or 2) for the full wrap around experience.

Dude, if you don't want it I'll take it!

Kard63 01-24-2007 10:15 AM

I got my dual 21.3" and thought for sure I'd be happy. I mean, the are as big as 4:3 monitors go..... anyway.... I'd rather have my 30" back now, lol. And I'd buy a 2nd to run duals.

djroof 01-24-2007 10:24 AM

Cool !!!!!!!!!!

Screaming 01-24-2007 10:27 AM
