I started my site in 1997, Jennicam had already been around a long time before I started.

In the early years, a number of sites did not have their own domain name. For example sites would appear as www.domain.net/~kelly or kelly.domain.net.

Back then, I was quoted $6,000.00 a month for a dedicated server with 50 Megs of disc space plus bandwidth charges or you could get your own T1 for $1,495.00 per month and run a server from your house or office. I still have the e-mail from our ISP explaining that they have to throttle our accounts to avoid disrupting their network.

ISPs would shut down our accounts within days after launching a site becasue of the bandwidth used. So we would move around.

I think it moved around a number of times. I know for a fact there was a dozen such sites online in 1995 or so.

Around 1997 it cost $AUD190 per inbound gig to hang off Australia's largest provider. Assuming a 4:1 ratio that's $AUD47.50 per outbound gig, which back then would have converted to about $USD35 per gig.

Based on that pricing a T1 at 33% loading (about 158 gigs) would have cost $USD5544 per month!

those were the days LOL

i remember one of the biggest problems for the amateur girls in the early days was bandwidth ... it stopped a lot of sites from getting off the ground which today would probably thrive.

the first amateur girl site I remember was Casey Cox, however there were a lot of sites around at that time.

The wayback machine isn't 100% accurate. And it only tracks the domain itself.

Carol Cox's site went up in 1994. She was on a few BBS before that.
