Rackspace perhaps?

wow that's a good question

Wait no, 1 & 1 is the biggest. I would guess GoDaddy is second.

I remember reading an article that in terms of actual accounts/domains hosted its GoDaddy.

In terms of dedicated servers under 1 roof its ThePlanet/EV1 (they merged about a year ago into one company that controls likes 20-40,000 servers).

In terms of square footage of hosting centers/data centers it has to be Equinix, I dont know another company with more square footage of datacenter space.

At one point before EV1 had their explosive growth Rackspace controlled the most servers under 1 roof (something like 8,000 servers).

Then EV1 exploded....and then bought out ThePlanet.

1and1 hosts the most domains total from an article in that computer world magazine i read late last year.

You can use this little tool to see all the tracked nameservers in use on the web and how many domains each one hosts:

http://www.dailychanges.com/

As you can see the nameserver: SecureServer.net has approximately 10,000,000 domains hosted at it. SecureServer.net is just one of Godaddy's hosting nameservers.

They count this by domain registration not actual hosting so there is no way to know for sure.

Parked pages or just registered domains should not count as far as I'm concerned.

<- always uses godaddy personally easiest and best in my opinion
