I had no power today

The heat here in melbourne today has been extreme. It reched over 40 degrees.

The entire estate that i live in lost the power for over 6 hours.

Meaning no air con, so went to the movies instead and saw "the holiday" great movie.

cj_purve 01-16-2007 05:08 AM

i told you not to plug that vibrator into the generator ... it was too powerful!!!

;p

biftek 01-16-2007 05:29 AM

power outage was due to the fires at benalla , i live about 50'k away from benalla , my power flickered off for about a second then came back on
you might be asking what the hell does bushfires out benalla have to do with power down melbourne ? simple , the feed line supply vic with excess power from nsw got cut , so melb wasnb't getting supplied with enough juice

E$_manager 01-16-2007 07:16 AM

40 degrees is something unbelievable. It is 30 here and i feel i can faint on the street.

reynold 01-16-2007 11:12 PM

No power for six hours? That's sad. How was Jack Black in The Holiday? :D

tony286 01-16-2007 11:14 PM

You mean 40C not F right?

biftek 01-16-2007 11:18 PM

40 degrees Celsius = 104 degrees Fahrenheit
australia is in Celsius , summer over here , so wouldn't be 40F which is 4 degrees Celsius

everyone using air conditioning/fans on the coldest temperature at once increases power consumption and therefore causes failures ;-)

always happens on the hottest days of summer.

Klen 01-17-2007 01:32 AM

Use ups,it come's handy in situations like this one.

nah power would've been right , but due to a bushfire taking down a twin powerline feedline that comes from New south wales suppling victoria with 330 kiloVolts
it wasn't that of not enough juice , there was an inability to transport it

crazyforyou 01-17-2007 08:49 AM

batts we get 110-114F here in valley very often in the summers

sexykat 01-17-2007 07:26 PM

Same here... used to live where the temperature used be at 45-50c on a average. 40c used to mean its time to get out and play a few hours of tennis ;)

But now its so cold where I currently am.

MintCams 01-17-2007 07:31 PM

I would much rather it be hotter than cold. I am freezing here in New England...

reynold 01-17-2007 07:55 PM

That's too bad. All is better now, I suppose?
