GOOD health food snacks, etc... post up

Protein bars, shakes and cookies usually suck, some are ok but you can't really think about eating them very often... not to mention that some of them aren't even healthy for you but just packaged that way to make a buck

Anyway, if you've been trying to snack healthy or fit in some extra meals but can't stand the bland & dry crap thats out there try some of these... i've spent a lot of money tasting different things and have tossed so many... thankfully i know some people that work at and own healthfood stores out there so they tell me whats new and good now ;)

Oh Yeah! bars are awesome, just like real candy bars

Tri-o-pro cookies are unbelieveable... I eat the nutty peanut butter cookie and it is incredible 21g protein, 3g net carbs (lots of fiber!)

Muscle milk shakes, cookies & cream is my fav, but i also drink the mocha joe and root beer flavors too (these shakes have carbs and essential fats, etc in them)... these are my in between meal shakes

for a straight ALL protein shake (post workout) go with the pro-complex chocolate by optimum nutrition... it dissolves in water with a teaspoon and tastes real good (like those swiss miss hot chocolate packs)

carb shakes etc are all pretty decent because its pretty much all sugar so i wont really post anything up on those

hopefully this helps some one out there, its 2007... get in shape fatties! :thumbsup

Sugar-free fat-free pudding with a half a scoop of protein powder mixed in. Yummy, healthy and satisfies a sweet tooth!

VIPimp 01-14-2007 12:29 AM

I'm going to give those a try... once I start working out again, hopefully soon because my body has gone to complete shit, thanks to the internet lol.

i've been making a conscious effort to eat more fresh fruit when i want to snack. apples, bananas, and rasberries are always good to munch on.

quaker makes some decent flavored rice cakes too. not that they are exceptionally healthy or anything, but they do have flavors like ranch and cheese that don't have very many calories or fat per serving compared to alot of other snacks.

fruits are good, but there are a lot of sugars in them so make sure you're eating the right ones if you're dieting (apricots for instance are good)

yeah you'll get some vitamins and a bit of fiber but also a lot of high glycemic sugars that will spike your insulin and throw your metabolism off

Carrot ,celery sticks and cherry tomatoes ,raw broccoli, cauliflower

Bingo, and my fave is Almonds..

http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?t...dspice&dbid=20

Read all the scientific crap at that link.. but, there's one more benefit. Eat 8 - 10 almonds about 30 minutes before a meal with a glass of water. The fibers in the almonds swell and make you feel full. Works great..

Your suggestions suck. Try a bag of carrots and a few almonds, why does food have to come in foil wrapping?

TG Rebecca 01-15-2007 10:02 PM

i've never tried it, but i remember seeing this sylvester stallone protein pudding. my sister and i were like "ooh let's try it!" :)

The Stallone pudding is yummy, but pricey, about $2.00 per serving. If you are going to enjoy it every day, it's cheaper to make your own with Jello sugar-free fat free pudding mix and nonfat milk with protein powder mixed in.

(The box of powder and three cups of milk makes six half-cup servings and I add three scoops of powder when I mix it)

-- get one of those big trays of vegetables(usually they have celery, baby tomatoes, coliflower and broccoli) and dip that people have at parties etc. and have it just for yourself

its easier than getting the shit seperately, its already cut and it comes with delicous ranch dip :)

-- make all the stuff for a massive batch of Fajitas. chicken, green peppers, red peppers, onions, garbanzo beans, whatever else u want and salsa and do it up together in a frying pan and then eat it without the Fajita wrap. i like fajita seasoning, hot sauce, and a little bit of sour cream on the side :)

-- if you're hungry and you just want your stomach to STFU fast then eat a skinless grilled chicken breast or two and u'll be str8. i usually make a bunch and keep them in my fridge already cooked for times like this.

i dont like sweet food :Oh crap

Speaking of watermelons, that's the easier way to get your lycopene instead of boiling tomatoes for hours.

That's true cos nut are high-calorie products so they satisfy the munchies

Brad 01-16-2007 03:16 PM

someone said that nuts are a good snack. This is true, but in general they are high in fat (good fats, but still high in fat) so it is probably a good idea to go easy on the nuts. I always tend to go to town on a pack of nuts (lol that doesn't sound too good) and I don't think that it's very good for you. I like to try to stick to fruit and veggies. celery is good because it's low in calories (i think you actually use more digesting it than you gain). All of that packaged crap tends to be just that...crap.

After Shock Media 01-16-2007 03:20 PM

From spring to late fall I just wheel out to the garden with a bowl and grab what I want and eat a bunch more while filling the bowl.

Some salt, some pepper, maybe some lemon juice and or olive oil. Unless its the strawberries, blue berries, raspberries, or blackberries of course.

I also love jerky and most is almost always fat free or nearly fat free. Some people just get freaked about it due to possible amount of sodium some use. I make bunches of this all of the time.

I also love having some smoked salmon. Real tasty and good for me.
I am also a big fan of cottage cheese with some salt an pepper.
Cucumber salad ranks real high for me, so does my bean salads (3 bean or texas caviar).

Well I just love food and it is way more than just a fuel source for me.

Violetta 01-16-2007 03:27 PM

carrots and dip :)
