I can do a lot of things with it but I don't know what you mean by the "best configuration line".

The best to acomplish what? Crop thumbs, alter image...etc...

Crop thumbs and make them look as best as possible.

This will take a Comus Thumbs submission passcode, strip it into individual characters, cut out the cross sectioned lines that run through it and then piece it back together to be fed to an OCR.

I helped write the first OCR for Dream Submitter.
