and what does Shane's World get out of that $11.95? And is there any way to know if the cable companies are shaving the amount?

i'm not sure how it works and i would never try to tell the DVD/Video side of the biz how to do what they do, but i think it is amazing that on an impulse buy we can all get people to pay 11.95 for something that they can pay 24 or 29.95 for for 30 days.

video companies make MAD LOOT on the cable deals man, every producer hopes his stuff gets picked up on pay per view

yeah i know, its not about that, its merely a perspective of time and perceived value.

its an impulse buy. i bet most of those movies are bought between 12am and 7am when people are partying and horny and not thinking with the right mind. i'm glad they do. think of migrating that impulse harvesting to the web where many of them many not join because they won't remember to cancel. i guarantee you it happens or they find free shit to whack it to. but having the ability to turn on a special feature between the hours of whatever and whatever where you blatantly sell them the one shot pop for like 15 bucks for 24 hours. could work. many many do not give the CC because of the recurring. and no one with a monthly who has a brain would offer a 30 day no recur if you want anyone nowadays to rebill. using the clock and peoples lifestyles to your advantage could be exlplored pretty easily.

our stuff is no where close to being ready for relaunch, but there are several companies that can flip a switch on their traffic and tell you how it works, or offer it on an X out or something.

to me anything is worth discussing if it can take advantage of a new trend. this would all be geared towards the people who wont buy recurring stuff anyway. keep it in that light.

might as well get a little of their money instead of none of it. oh well, all of this business is perspective anyhow. if it works it works and if it doesnt you keep thinking.

I can vouche for the impulse buy, my wife and I always end up on the pay channels in hotels and order some tvsex

yeah thats what made me think of it. not only do i have a 155 dollar cable bill anyhow, but i buy at least 10 PPV movies a month and I have a netflix membership and my FB brings over blockbuster all the time on her membership.
