Do sigs really attract webmaster referrals?

This question is addressed to people who use their sigs to advertise sponsor programs. Some of you posted great returns in another thread here, so I'm wondering if its really worth featuring a sponsor sig and be able to make an extra $300-500/month with that? Just out of curiosity.

How long does it take to get to a a point of lets say $300/m?

That one with the giant swinging tits probably does

bogo 01-11-2007 12:36 PM

it was worth it maybe 4-5 years ago, now days majority of people here are surfers.

To get that amount with your sig, you have to be lucky to have a big traffic webmaster signup under you, which doesn't happen often ...
For example, for me get that, you'd need to signup under my TCG sig, would you? :)

LOL.. actually it does - I get alot of webmasters inquire about our plugin movies because of our advertising...at the same time I have spoken to people who refuse to do any business with a company because of the posts made by their employees. That is always why it is important to keep a good reputation going since you are the spokesperson for the company and not just you.

martinsc 01-11-2007 01:02 PM

what's a sig?

:)

BAKO 01-11-2007 01:03 PM

Miguel T 01-11-2007 01:03 PM

free4porn 01-11-2007 01:39 PM

interracialtoons 01-11-2007 01:43 PM

Too many loser on the board...they will sign up to the program you advertise but they dont want you to make any money so they type in without your referral code.

I often click sigs of small programs that I haven't heard of before, hoping that other webmasters haven't heard of them yet either.

If you have something someone is looking for and your program sells itself to the webmaster - yes they work.

stev0 01-11-2007 02:49 PM

I imagine you'd have to sig whore a whole lot to see $300-500 in referal comissions... the majority of people that signup never send a hit.

Works sometimes though, i usually sign up through sigs and send hundreds of sales to those programs every month... so someone is collecting some decent referal commision.

alexg 01-11-2007 02:54 PM

let's find out:

Webmasters dont click sigs. They hover the mouse over your link and then type it in, so you wont get any credit.

great for branding
sigs never really generate truely productive webmasters
productive webmasters come from 1-on-1
