Beckham, soccer been very, very, good to me
250 MILLION DOLLAR DEAL
MADRID (Reuters) - Former England captain David Beckham will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and sign a five-year deal with MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, he told Reuters on Thursday. "This week Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract for a further two seasons," Beckham told Reuters "After discussing several options with my family and my advisors to either stay here in Madrid or join other major British and European teams I have decided to join LA Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year. The 31-year-old, who joined Real from Manchester United in June 2003, is the most famous player to sign up for Major League Soccer since it began in 1996. The deal is reported to be one of the biggest in global sport with Beckham set to earn more than $250 million over the duration of his contract. The news ends months of speculation about the future of the midfielder whose contract with Real expires at the end of the season. Having been first choice in the Real Madrid starting lineup since he moved to Spain, Beckham lost his place following the arrival of Italian coach Fabio Capello. He has only started five of Real's 16 league games this season and was known to be frustrated with his lack of opportunities in the first team. |
no big loss, past his sell by date in terms of football.
|
It's just fucked up... he should play in Europe where they can play football
|
what a rich bastard :(
|
I think he's sold out. He doesn't need the money but he's doing this for his wife... She's desperate to crack America and be the big thing out there coz she's a washed up popstar and he's still a money machine. He had his choice of clubs all around Europe. No disrespect to US Soccer but LA GAlaxy aint got shit on the clubs who wanted to sign him.
I guess he'll be happy over there, his wife will stop bitching at him and he'll probably become the next big thing in the US. |

Is he worth every penny of 250 million? I suppose we'll see, but I get a laugh out of some of the soccer fans on this board, many of whom wouldn't even include Beckham in their all-star "dream-team" roster, a huge mistake in my opinion. I have no doubt he'll spark some interest in US soccer. I bet a lot more young women attend their games at least. :D |
I can't blame him. He is getting around £497,000 a week !!
That's just insane !! He doesn't even need to be at his best now because the American league isn't in the same class as Spain or England. Victoria must not believe her luck at times. She is a talentless whore, yet because her husband has talent, she can get anything and everything she wants. What a life ! |

Hopefully, he'll have the same impact on MLS as Gretzky had on the NHL. I'm a soccer fan and it would be nice to see more people get turned on to the MLS.

t minus one month til the beckham hilton sex tape hits the net.......
|
He's outdated anyway, barely a reserve at Real Madrid, and this due to his marketing money he brings to a club, too bad such a player makes so much money from fools around the world worshiping him and buying products with his Barbie girl face on them ...

It seems to still be good for him
his going to be earning 80p a second for the next 5 years!!! about £120mill |
Outdated?
The guy is 31 years old, he's a good 10 years away from being "outdated". |
Great move if you ask me...
1. He gets richer than rich. 2. He can play till he's 95 years old and still be the best player in America. He'll be like a God there. |
