Before Pong I had something made by National Semiconductor that I don't even remember the name of. The 2600 came later. First BBS was ring-back with an acoustic. Didn't get the Hayes until 1981 (82?). I still have an Osbourne in storage. Now that was a portable. :winkwink: First dedicated adult server I had was a P133 with 128MB. It was "fast". :error So, so old... :Oh crap |
shit!
i remember me and my friends used to go in on buying 5 and 1/4 inch disks and trade cards for more of those fuckin floppys. haha. 9 bucks for 20 of em. wow. i guess we are all old. lol. |
I don't go back far enough for the Atari, but I'm old enough to remember the Nintendo original coming out and thinking that Mario Bros. was the coolest thing since sliced bread.

I'm talking 300 baud acoustic Atari modem. "Upgraded" to 300 baud Hayes auto-answer. Going to 1200 baud was a wet dream come true. By the time 2400 hit I was living on my own and could afford to buy those expensive buggers. What memories. And 9600? Nobody could read that fast...what could anyone possible do with all that speed?! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh Oh yeah. Porn. :winkwink: Edit: I was that cool older geek up the street that let you young'uns come over and copy games. :1orglaugh |
pong !!!!!!!

I started with a Sinclair ZX Spectrum... had loads of fun with it, I wish I still had one. With cassette deck and crazy sounds and everything! We kept track of our highscores in a little notebook and of course we had fights about incredible scores made while no one else was around.
After that we got a Commodore 64 WITH Floppy drive(!) and loads of games. California Games... World games... Giana Sisters... Good times...!! |
this was my first computer (atari 400)..i bought it in early 1980..
i got an apple shortly after... http://www.shemp.com/atari400.jpg |
mac II se and a 386 were my intro to tech.
386 didnt work when I recieved it from my parents... so I had to fix it, that was intro to hardware... lol. |
|
My first contact with computers was with a mainframe back in the mid 70's. The company to which I sold part of my first business owned one and we started processing payments and invoices through it, via cards which had to be marked with magnetic pencil :)
Some friends had Apple's and I bought a Sinclair for a niece, but it wasn't until 1981 when a friend who ran a PC store got the new IBM in stock, that I got interested in PC's. I bought one immediately and soon after several more for the office. |
