HD encoding; how can I reduce file sizes without sacrificing the quality?
I'm using sorensen squeeze, and the video looks amazing, but the file sizes are very large. I just encoded a 19 second clip at 1280x720, 5000Kbps, 2-Pass VBR and the file size is 21Mb. |
are you using H.264?

Here you can find some HD streaming samples. They are very high quality, but a minimum connection of 5Mbit is recuired.
They use H.264 2 pass encoding. http://www.jet-stream.nl/samples/hd.html |

It's HD. There isn't a way to really reduce the file size. However, a bit rate of 3-4Mbit/s will help reduce the files size while keeping the quality. We found the sweet spot to be 3.7Mbit/s for our HD WMV movies. |
