I put it on the news now. Weird how you felt your house shake cause I didn't feel anything. Kinda wish I would have felt it. After living in California for 11 years I guess I kinda miss earthquakes. lol

I'm in SW Florida..

There was a 6.0 earthquake on September 10th in the Gulf of Mexico that we felt.. but didn't feel anything today...

Here's what our news station said about today:
Quote:

Our newsroom has been flooded with calls from residents who felt an earthquake just before 10 a.m. According to the US Geological Survey it was not an earthquake that registered on their equipment. It may have been too small to register on their nearest equipment, which is near Orlando.

The USGS suggests it may have been a sonic boom over the Gulf of Mexico.

There have been no reports of damage because of the tremors. Residents from Collier County to Cape Coral have reported feeling tremors.

Collier County Emergency Management said they had confirmed there was an earthquake at Apalachicola, but that was not correct.

We're following this developing story and will have updates as they become available.

I live on an island I'm just hoping some tsunami doesn't come and wash us away lol

fusionx 01-10-2007 09:04 AM

Alien spaceship created a sonic boom when leaving the atmosphere after stopping for White Castle burgers.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-10-2007 09:06 AM

Wussies...prolly just some retribution from Ohio for spanking their team on Monday night.

Didn't see anything on the news feeds I subscribe to yet, but I did note that there was a 6.0 in September, and a 5.2 in February, in Florida.

If a quake greater than than that, of about 7.0 were to occur, be sure to get away from the beach, since it could trigger a tsunami...

Naughty-Pages 01-10-2007 09:23 AM

it's was a friggin plane...
Quote:

Lee County Emergency Management Director Steve Cirinna said that the Federal Aviation Administration in St. Louis, Mo. informed him the sonic boom was the result of a Boeing aircraft that had come too close to the ground during testing. ?Boeing was testing a new aircraft and that's why we heard it,? Cirinna said.

So I watched the news at noon..

The first 7 and a half minutes should have been titled:
"What shook SW Florida?... Here's a list of what we do not know.."

2 hours after the fact and all we get is: "It wasn't this, it wasn't that.. blah blah" blah...

LOL
