I was just thinking this, that when it comes to the BEST gifts I have ever received, COST had NOTHING to do with it ......

The single best gift I was ever given, and this may sound fucking stupid, was from my kids a couple of Father's Days ago.

A nose hair trimmer. It is the bomb.

Plucking hurts like all shit, I still use the thing about once a month.

My friend sculpted an awesome foot tall statue of Frost from Mortal Kombat for me. I almost cried when I saw it.

When I bought my BMW, my parents surprised me for my birthday and paid the taxes, or some sort of other major purchase-related expense .. don't remember now.

I was floored. The next few times I visited them, I was extra-gracious around them, ha!

An all expense paid trip to Europe! Best thing I could have received for and I didn't even ask for it. Thanks again :)

My uncle gave me an old bombshell on my 16th birthday. He had it since he was in college. It was taped shut with instructions not to open til I was 21.

On my 21st birthday I opened it to find about a dozen small objects each with symbolic meaning.

i.e.
A fishhook: teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.
A sand dollar: true value is not always defined by money
Etc...

He had faith that I would turn into the kind of young man that would appreciate it. Still my favorite gift ever.

When I was in the hospital some years ago for unexpected surgery, my mom and dad drove halfway across the country to be with me. I had to sit up in bed and hold a pillow against my tummy and cough every so often. Not long after getting to my hospital room my dad excused himself and when he came back, handed me the cutest, softest stuffed bunny and told me to hug that when I needed to cough. I adore that bunny to this day.
