So i have to buy my wife a car today :( anyone have a Sante Fe?

I thought i could put it off awhile and save the money.

She is now a car mart expert and checks the new listings everyday.

just a used car...im thinking the Hyundai Sante Fe

or maybe the Nissan Murano

we will pay cash....not interested in getting into another payment plan.

Daruma 01-09-2007 07:28 AM

of those 2 - go with the Nissan :2 cents:

Phoenix 01-09-2007 07:29 AM

i did of course think about getting a bmw or something similar for her

but..i can only rally afford the entry level bmw or benz...everyone knows when you are driving the poor mans benz..lol

anyway...i thought it wise not to get trapped into years of payments

yeah i heard they are not going to be making the Sante fe for much longer...so parts might be hard to get.

Mr. Romance 01-09-2007 07:31 AM

I don't know about Nissan, but Infinity has had the most returns in 2005. And since Nissan = Infinity... Think again about buying a Nissan. Hyundai gives 5 years of warranty to their cars, that means they are prepared to cover the broken parts. So if your Santa Fe isn't older than 5 years, you might get a car that still has factory warranty on it.

After all these years, I still think a "Hyundai" sounds like a really bad cheap car... I'd go with a Nissan

Herb Kornfield 01-09-2007 08:52 AM

I'd ditch the cars and get her a Jeep Wrangler...:thumbsup

My wife loves her 2005 Wrangler Sport w/Soft Top. Fully Loaded = $24k

reynold 01-10-2007 09:15 PM

I say go for Nissan.

JFK 01-10-2007 09:26 PM

In was going to get a Santa Fe a couple of years ago, just never got around to it. I like them, what I got recently is an all wheel drive Dodge Magnum, for winter driving. Love it:thumbsup

GTS Mark 01-10-2007 10:31 PM

Damn it i had a 06 santa fe available just a few months ago, it was one of our salesguys company cars. I just gave it to another employee instead of lease busting it.

I hate the Murano, my parents have it and I really don't like it at all. Then again, its not the type of car I'd drive.

Nissan Murano is very beautiful, but not secure i think.
My brother has it and not very happy though he was dreaming about it before he bought it.
Doors started to tremble in a month after using it.
Though may be this is only his case.

Forest 01-11-2007 07:23 AM

Friend of mine has the santa fe and he absolutly LOVES it

I have an xg350 and I absolutly LOVE it

Hyundai builds solid cars and have the Mine is best warrenty around. Mine is 100k mi bumper to bumper plus i get a loaner when its in the shop for more then a day.

I will be buying the azera next. Its a hot looking car and at $33k very affordable for luxury it provides

:2 cents:

qwe 01-11-2007 11:55 AM

just buy her used civic... most reliable car ever

MetaMan 01-11-2007 11:59 AM

Get your wife the cheapest fucking car you can find, go with a KIA, women should not be allowed to drive on the road in the first place.

The biggest piss off is when you see "moms" driving big SUVS and they are trying to navigate a parking lot, everytime i go out i see some middle aged women trying to back out with like 10 feet behind her doing like a 10 point turn. DRIVE IT LIKE YOU OWN IT BITCH!

It is a proven FACT women suck at driving so why take the risk? they should be glad they are allowed to vote let alone drive on the mans roadways. :2 cents:

Phoenix 01-11-2007 12:02 PM

haha thanks all..we havent bought yet.
but we are going to go with the Hyundai Sante fe

i wanted to stick to honda...but my wife is korean and likes Hyundai.

good to hear positive responses regarding the Sante Fe

only thing im worried about is i heard they stopped making the sante fe in korea...ill check out parts available etc

Lazonby 01-11-2007 12:03 PM

Tell her some of your conspiracy theories first. She might laugh so much that she'll forget she needs a car, then you can spend the money on strippers instead.

id love to know who you are

bogo 01-11-2007 12:12 PM

if i had to choose between those 2,i would stick with Murano. TBH i would rather go with Dodge.

_Richard_ 01-11-2007 12:12 PM

Good luck on the car hunting..

You can probably put the money for an entry level benz into a vacation. That probably pay off in the long run better than a stupid automobile

I have a 2000 sonata. Before you go with a Hyundia you should know that any work you need done to it will more than likely need to be done at the dealer. Not a problem for big stuff, but I'm even talking about the little stuff.

I have to go to the dealer to get Air filters because I can't find them anywhere else. I needed a battery last year, and had to go to the dealer. Rear brake pads - dealer.

If you don't mind that sort of thing, then go for the Santa fe, otherwise look for something else.

Also plan on changing the timing belt at about 80,000 miles. If the timing belt breaks, plan on putting in a new motor.

jalami 01-11-2007 12:46 PM

Why hasn't anyone mentioned a Toyota yet?

MissMina 01-11-2007 12:49 PM

My husband and I bought a Sante Fe. I hear the crash ratings are the shits. Dunno how much it's changed from the new model. Sadly the Sante Fe is the car my husband crashed and killed himself with. It was a 2003 model (brand new when we bought it) I wouldn't buy a Hyundai but then again I am biased. Definately check crash ratings/safety as a whole. Make sure she's in the safest car possible.

pornguy 01-11-2007 12:50 PM

Kia has some nice ones, and we are thinking about getting one of the SUV's. where I live, I wont buy anything flashy. Its not smart.

As for the two you mentioned, I would go with the Nissan.

Phoenix 01-11-2007 01:27 PM

hmmm...thanks everyone...i think i will make another push towards honda...the honda pilot or crv.

Forest...i wont buy a car new...just something about losing so much value once i drive off the lot.

im not at a place yet where i can just write that off in my mind and be ok with it..lol

Roald 01-11-2007 01:34 PM

I think the Hyundai is great value for the money. What does one cost new over there? Just wondering.

Peaches 01-11-2007 01:35 PM

When you buy a used car you have NO idea how it's been driven, if the oil's been changed correctly, etc. I've never had good luck with used cars. Buy something cheap and new if you don't want to have a payment. That's what I did with my Wrangler. I plan on keeping it forever (it's a 2nd car) and I'll know it's been taken care of :)
