The Wicker Man

So I just rented the DVD The Wicker Man and you know what, it was pretty good. The ending threw me for a loop since it's not what I expected at all.

I'm a big Nick Cage fan, how about you?

Going to watch the alt endings later tonight and see how those turn out. Very strange movie but worth the few bucks to rent.

:thumbsup :2 cents:

Nicholas Cage plays the exact same role for every film. He does it well, though. Indeed.

axelcat 01-08-2007 10:54 AM

NinjaSteve 01-08-2007 11:14 AM

I heard the original was better than this remake. Can anybody confirm this?

NemesiS876 01-08-2007 11:17 AM

Seen it, not bad

stev0 01-08-2007 11:20 AM

I heard it was terrible.. will have to check it out though. The IMDB rating doesn't look promising.

for sure,i saw the original before the new one. Original is far better movie. Just see that one n' skip Cage's movie.

Flow 01-08-2007 11:35 AM

Ok I watched it the other day. Mildly entertaining at best then at the end your like "What The Fuck Just Happened - How Fucking Stupid" Tops my list for worst movie of 2006.

Scottish Guy 01-08-2007 11:56 AM

It was filmed about a couple of miles from where I live and we also have the wickerman festival here

the original that is

CaptainHowdy 01-08-2007 12:03 PM

ViliTheKid 01-08-2007 12:37 PM

Himuro 01-08-2007 01:07 PM

I'll go get it for later on tonight

Danny_C 01-08-2007 01:09 PM

I loved the original, but haven't bothered with this one yet.

SeniorX 01-08-2007 02:11 PM

Imho, everything got explained too much, made it a bit dumbening.

But when Cage started kicking and punching women, it was so unexpected and unseen that everyone started laughing in the theatre... that really made the movie worth seeing... end was also good and unexpected, but should have ended it with the burning wickerman scene... the club scene at the end kinda ruined it for me...

richsaun 01-08-2007 02:11 PM

Original Rocks - Remake sucks.

nikki99 01-08-2007 02:29 PM

iron maiden yeaaaaaaaaah :)

SykkBoy 01-08-2007 02:32 PM

Loved the orginal, the remake is passable, not as bad as the critics and movie geeks make it sound, but not really that good either...entertaining for Nic Cage's over the top acting though...

Actually, I watched the unrated version first without knowing it so it wasn't until later that night when I put in in again to see the so called alt ending that I found out that I had watched the good version first. The club scene was a bit goofy but after watching both versions it makes sense.

But yeah, really unexpected ending for sure, not what I thought would happen at all.

TimBlaze 01-09-2007 12:48 PM

it was pretty stupid but entertaining

Dragar 01-09-2007 12:52 PM

It was bizzare a bit but thank god someone has done a movie that doesn't follow the trend for a change

starpimps 01-09-2007 12:54 PM

it sucked,
but that explains the story on how he becomes ghost rider

Yes, a thousand times better. If i was richer, I would pay you to see the original. Its absolutely awesome. The remake made me cry inside because of the people saying "wow this is such a good movie" when i was watching it with them, and it was so utterly crappish compared with the original.

Kinda like how i felt when i saw the american version of The Ring two days after seeing the original version and people were praising the american version.

Or when people were telling me what a fantaboulous masterpiece The Matrix was, philosophically, and that #2 and #3 was so much better than #1.

reynold 01-09-2007 07:54 PM

Quite a good film.

Thomas N 01-09-2007 08:02 PM

Cage is a douchebag, and wicker man was widely heralded as the worst movie of the year.

chaze 01-09-2007 08:22 PM

I dug it, it's not anything like you would expect.

Cheers for remaking a unique concept.

TimBlaze 01-09-2007 10:08 PM

i wouldnt call it unique, i would call it shitty if anything..... but i was entertained, didnt feel like a total waste of time
