so they can announce to the world that they have rss feeds

lots of programs did it really horribly just so they could add "NOW FEATURING RSS FEEDS" on their program page

rick-e 01-07-2007 10:43 AM

nevermind the pics, some just have a four word gallery description there and that too is not clickable :helpme

I know and it's driving me mad seeing rss feed entrys like:

January 5th, 2007
JANE IN BATH

January 4th, 2007
JANE IN KITCHEN

January 2nd, 2007
ALLISON IN BATH

Grrrr.. Get it right, it's not diffcult. If you are a program owner who wants to know how to do it properly, Check out NUBILES.NET rss feeds.

Thanks for your time. :thumbsup

Bump - THIS IS IMPORTANT. :)

scouser 01-07-2007 11:27 AM

They can be handy to extract the url and thumbnail from though (if you don't display them exactly as they're provided).
Although I do agree.

ANother thing that gets me is feeds without dates on the items... makes it much harder to keep re-updating stuff when you gotta go back and check over and over "did I already use it". The RSS standards really do call for dates on things... do it!

SkeetSkeet 01-07-2007 11:44 AM

www.starlightbucks.com feeds worth a damn !

bizarredollars 01-07-2007 12:08 PM

I am putting a lot of effort into our feeds.. If you have suggestions, please let me know.

who 01-07-2007 12:13 PM

Ok suggestions:
1. Each item has a pic, linking to a gallery where the pic came from (or wherever it did come from)
2. Text - each item has a brief paragraph of text which includes keywords linking to your site.
3. Videos (instead of pics) is also nice. Nubiles.net has a video feed and a pic feed, they work really well together.
4. Variations on post types. Sometimes a single large pic with text, other times eight thumbnails instead of the pic, etc.

I think these are just simple things which end up making your RSS feed a billion times better than so many other feeds out there.

Lavish Cash is in the process of adding RSS right now. I assure you we won't suck. :)

Sosa 01-08-2007 11:26 AM

It's hard to find decent feeds that have more then 1 small ass pimage and 1 line of text.

Pete-KT 01-08-2007 11:28 AM

From what I have noticed most do have pics but there coded wrong so the pic never shows up in the feed

baddog 01-08-2007 11:30 AM

RSS feeds are supposed to enhance your sites with additional text . . . SE's don't read images all that well. No need for RSS feeds with images.

Disagree. SE's are not your end user. Granted, they are a critical part of a blog's success to get end users to your blog, however, End users/consumers are your target users and the purchasers of the products you are promoting on your blog, which of course is the revenue stream for the blog. Consumers of porn are more visually stimulated, and the more visually stimulated or aroused, the more likely they are to whip out a card and support your site with a purchase from your sponsor that provided the feed.

Topbucks has a great RSS Feed that does offer the choice of having pictures in the feed (even how many)! You can even customize the colour scheme and font size that best fits your site. We know that RSS is an important tool, so we're doing what we can to bring you the best! :winkwink:

I don't need a sponsor formatting my blog text, thank you.

The blog CSS should handle fonts and colors on it's own.

starpimps 01-08-2007 04:00 PM

i hate that, and i hate sponsors with just pictures
rssfeeds were ment to have lots of text too

HAPPYPEEKERS 01-08-2007 09:02 PM

You should check out Topbucks New Lineup of RSS Feeds. They are awesome and come in most every niche!

One of my favorites is Orgy Sex Parties RSS Feeds!!
:thumbsup :winkwink:

stickyfingerz 01-08-2007 09:12 PM

Ive said this for awhile now. Some programs have upgraded what they were doing. A picture used on a blog from a feed should be similar in size to the size of pictures you normally post manually. Too busy for blogs lately, so only have the feeds that were good to begin with on my now. :winkwink:

who 02-05-2007 10:01 AM

Sorry to bump this old thread, but someone mentioned being able to extract image URLS from the gallery links in RSS feeds - can they please tell me how?

Thanks.
