Website membership fees

Several people have commented that our payouts for passwords sold in Brasil, Russia, India, China & Co. are too low ($0.50)

However, if you calculate the cost to the surfer on a pro-rata basis, the average monthly credit card subscription costs him about a dollar a day.

Therefore, the access time you grant surfers should be adjusted accordingly. Most webmasters actually give 30 minutes access per password sold.

$0.50 might not sound like much, but it is better than $0.00. Remember, the web is a global medium - and most people worldwide do not have a credit card.

How else can you make money 'made in China'?

How many threads are you going to be starting about this topic every day?

I did a test signup using your system from germany...

I was surprised that after i hung on the line for about 6 minutes to receive the login and at the same time spending roughly 12 euros I was only allowed access to the members area for a very short time.

my question is: what are the variables for the sites using your service?

can they choose from offering 30 minutes to 24 hours etc.?

this seemed very unclear during the payment process...

I think that many users might feel cheated and probably won't want
to repeat that experience in the future...

CuriousCash and RevshareRewards both use PasswordByPhone and give webmasters full credit for all sales through MPA3.

Working a treat for all concerned.

Hi Sillyguy:thumbsup

How much access time you grant us up to you.

Some webmasters stick to the default timeout of 30 minutes, others give longer (usually 24 hours).

Some webmasters make is crystal clear to the surfer what awaits them eg http://www.belamionline.com/ccregister/pbpregister.asp - others don't.

Buy "buying time" this way surfer can relax whilst enjoying the content, knowing the the billing clock is no longer ticking.

If your content is compelling enough, the chances are good that he will 'come back for more' (pun intented) next time he feels that way inclined - not least since you gave him the option not to commit to a monthly subscription in the first place...

Thanks that made things clearer...:)

but do the sites also get the option to choose of how long they have the customer on the phone/total they bill them...that would make it interesting...

no doubt your service is great... but i do think you should add the total access time that the user receives on the page with your billing number...to make your service even more trustworthy

We do not dictate the cost of getting the password, the phone companies worldwide do - which is why the costs of aquiring the password (and payouts to the webmaster) vary from country to country.

I take on board your comments about access time transparency to the surfer and will take measures to address this.

Vielen Dank!:thumbsup

I think that Hotmovies summarize the shift in membership business-model very elloquently in their "Memo" to all webmasters that you will have seen in the adult print media.

An excerpt:

"We have to be blunt. It's time to wake up!

Most of your customers do NOT want to join membership websites.

While they can preview text and photos that tease them into joining, most sign-ups only stay for a month or two and then cancel.

Some customers forget to cancel so the membership site earns a month or two of additional revenue that may bring in another $20-$40 per sign up. This model - requiring a miniumum number of sign-ups each month just to break even - is fading. The proof in is how many affiliate programs no longer advertise or remain in business.

Each month, more and more new companies are jumping onto the VOD and pay-per-minute Billing Bandwagon. This is a welcome sign since it grows the entire market. Every day, it makes thousands of additional Internet users aware of micro billing and the revolutionary new way to view adult content online."

The issue of incredibly (relatively) smaller ticket prices was my main obstacle to trying PbP, but I was forgetting a couple things:

1) Instead of $29.95 (avg) for 30 days of grinding my server's resources/bandwidth, 50 cents for 30 minutes is not bad. On the other end, $10 for 30 minutes (Austria) is pretty good return for a quickie.

2) Lesser costs mean lesser risks of dissatisfaction/chargebacks by customer and higher conversions.

3) "Rebills" are entirely possible (customer initiated call backs) and TOTALLY up to the quality of the paysite.

4) Commercial online access to Eastern Europe, and Asia has never been safer.

Hi SillyGuy, "Danke" for your input:pimp - we will be adding additional pictorial banners like this one to make it clearer to surfers:

It could be that they are blocked from China - ask him/her to go to www.greatfirewallofchina.org to check if they are.
