This chick just took a bath on her PS3!

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-PlayStation-3-PS3-60GB-NEW-3-year-Warranty...

Playstation 3: $600.00
Extended Warranty: $60.00
Sales Tax: $50.00
eBay Fees: $60.00
PayPal Fees: $40.00
----------------------
Winning Bid: $635.00

Looks like she's taking about a $175.00 loss on the system. Damn! Of course my calculations (tax, fees, etc.) are estimates but im sure they are pretty close. I wonder if she bought it with the intention of selling it on eBay? I saw 3 of these at a Target store in Minnesota the week before Christmas. I was thinking of buying one to sell on eBay. Now I'm really fucking glad I didn't.

Maybe she won it as a prize or something.

this thread has nothing to do with a dumb blonde electrocuting herself in a bathtub:disgust

I highly doubt that. She shows the WalMart receipt in the auction photos. This seems to be about what the systems are fetching right now. Meanwhile the Wii is going for 100-150 bucks over retail still.

:pimp

'took a bath' means 'she lost money'?

Took a bath [exp.] A really slick way of saying that a lot of money was lost. "We really took a bath after 9/11."

That's what happens when idiots blindly jump on the bandwagon, they see people raking in easy 300% profit, and they think they can do the same think 2 months later....

Do you happen to know the origin of this saying? Most slangs make sense, but with this one, I'm not quite visualizing why taking a bath would mean taking a loss... :-/

nm, google to the rescue :thumbsup ->

"This idiom, which originated in gambling, transfers washing oneself in a bathtub to being "cleaned out" financially."

Thanks for clearing things up woj! :pimp
