20k posts and some bad shit going down...
Straight up... I'm going blind. I don't know why; I'm going to the emergency room tomorrow because it's the fastest way I can get a referral to an opthalmologist. There's a shortage of them in Canada, the normal wait to see one is about 28 weeks according to one source.
I've been having spells of total blindness that last 5-10 seconds for about a month or more now, I thought it was a migraine symptom. (see migraine with aura). It didn't take long to realize there was a lot more going on than that. Possibilites now include diabetic retinopathy, which is abnormal blood vessel growth and bleeding within the vitreous humour of the eyes (I've never been diagnosed with diabetes, but I have symptoms)... Migraine (If I'm lucky) .. Brain/optic nerve tumor... Detached retina, or some combination of the above. Well, it's all guesswork at this point. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a diagnosis and a direction. At the rate my sight is degenerating I won't be able to read normal print in a week or two, which will put a quick end to ... a whole lot of things. Including reading the boards. (On top of that, it HURTS to read). Cross your fingers for me. I'd like to stick around a while. |

If it comes with dizzy spells, you might also be looking at very low blood pressure or circulation issues... whatever you do, don't wait! Get yourself to the hospital pronto!

GFY is no place for medical advice and trying to google an answer will only make matters worse. Let a doctor call it. If it doesn't work out in Canada have someone drive ya down to the states. Tell them you're from Mexico and they might give you free care. Chances are if you don't get free attention at one place, try another hospital or clinic. |
Not a doctor, but I'd stay away from the computer or trying to read much.

Fuck I am so happy for the 20k posts, but the eye problems, I have to say that I am extremely sorry and hopefuly its just a simple solution to fix the problem!

Good luck to you. I have Wet Macular Degeneration, I know what it's all about. I had to have 35% of the sight in my right eye lasered out to stop the progression. (They laser the blood vessels and the surrounding area caterizing them to stop the spread). Lost all my depth perception for about 6 months after, and a few other screwy things, but it's been 5 years now and no further problems yet. Your brain adjusts over time and you hardly notice it after awhile.
