Snowboarding...

Off to buy a gel wirst thing in a bit and the local dry slope is near the store so I'll have an hours snowboarding too.

It got me thinking. Before I book next years boarding holiday what's the best resorts in Europe and the States? If you flip through a mag or site they seem to recommend every resort and I figure some have to be a lot better than others i.e. wider pistes, no flat spots, maybe a half pipe to fall over in style on.....

Tipsy, which slope do you go to in the UK?

We went snowboarding in Saalbach, Austria (next to Zell am See, which is great too) this spring. The spring was early so there was only snow on top of the mountain, but it was still great.
I went there couple of years ago during winter, and it was awsome.
Might not be the best place, but I sure like it.
There's couple of snowboard parks, natural half pipes and jumps, lots of cool forest to board in, off-pist, and great after-ski :winkwink:

I will definitely go back there this winter again.

Went to Verbier in Switzerland early this season and stayed in a chalet which was a new thing for me. Had a great time :)

If I have the time and can be bothered to drive I usually go to Tamworth or M.Keynes for some 'real' snow. For dry slopes there's one near Eastbourne which isn't too far.

Apparently a fuck off great big snow slope is opening in Docklands soon. Can't wait.

I lived in Annecy, France, some years ago and there were some excellent spots around it. Most importantly Le Trois Vallées. Verbier is great!

Jan seems to be the time to go. A little colder but usually good snow - however, no lift queues! I hate those fucking French gits trying to push in front of me on the lifts. Their kids are the worst. At least the Germans seem to teach their children how to queue for the most part.

whistler is great (but crowded). i've lived in Banff, Canada for the past two years (just relocated about 7 weeks ago). i hold season's passes to both:

and

louise is my all time favorite mountain. i also really like kickinghorse http://www.kickinghorseresort.com/ - best powder in Canada. it's a new place, and is definitely geared to the advanced rider (just take a look at the resort map). i'm thinking about buying a condo out there.

Fucking awful crappy white shitty fake snow crap!!!!

Just got back from the local dry slope - 1st time there and they have this white carpet like stuff (not the usual long bristles). I could hardly even move on the stuff and turning was impossible. The problem with being a fat bastard at least in part I suppose. I want snow!!!!!
