So, let him spend his money. It only takes 5 minutes to write a letter to ICANN stating your opposition. I don't have a problem with him spending his money, I do have a problem with him winning.

I'm sure ICANN has heard about the new Google invention now and would have seen the thread anyway. After all, its no secret that this board exists or that we are trying to get people to see things from our POV. And all this assumes that ICANN even reads or considers the comments anyway.

Most congressmen don't pay any attention to their e-mail, they simply have interns reply with bullshit "thanks for contacting us, we care about your opinion" letters. But all of them open their mail, for mail is how donations come in.

I'm of the opinion that the general public doesn't give a rat's ass about the legal difficulties of anyone in the adult industry.

Sveindt Beindt 01-06-2007 09:20 PM

not sure if they read every comment (probably not), but nevertheless the fact that they SAID that "opposition to the idea wasnt the reason..." doesnt mean it really wasn't..... and doesnt also mean that they actually said it.... you know the journalists, they sometimes twist some things :winkwink:

It likely isn't a good idea. Then again, what are we doing making this the biggest industry board and letting it be what it is, if we are concerned about what people will think if they check it out? GFY is hardly a secret and everyone has access to it...

well but have you written an email yet or will you do it? (you have 4 more weeks)

or do you think that the other cases that you were fighting for (raising money through your sig sales for FCC or some similar things - dont remember the details) were more significant than the potential .XXX implications?

just a honest question

I've written e-mails each and every time this issue has come up, have notified people on the gay side of the industry about the issue through my board and gay webmaster e-mail list each and every time this issue has come up, and after I finish reading the actual new proposal from ICM to understand the new issues being raised so that I can comment on them in an educated manner, I'll send in my e-mail this time as well.

Admittedly, the polish_aristocrat argument is very strong.

DaddyHalbucks 01-07-2007 06:51 PM

As GFY is increasingly open to anyone without adult credentials, this is bound to keep threatening our industry.

They'll care when they cant download their porn at working instead of doing their jobs. But until then, you are right. I have found that most of the people on this earth don't give two shits about the legal issues of their fellow man until those legal issues begin to take away things near and dear to them.

And these religious fruitcakes that are so hell bent on getting rid of porn are too stupid to realize (which is not surprising, on average, Democrats tend to be smarter than Republicans, which in turn is not surprising that farmers and peasants are more attracted to the GOP) that the laws that strip us of our beat off material today are the laws that will take away their precious bibles tomorrow.

One only needs to look to Germany to see examples of this.
