A good site that I like (not sure if you call it techno over there) it's called trance here in the UK...

Its streamed across the net, go to

di.fm

and click on the broadband media player link over on the right, I think it's cool stuff! (sometimes it's a little wank, give it chance).

Squishy 07-25-2002 01:59 AM

Hell man, I was just spinnin it for 3 hours...where the hell were you? :glugglug :)

Techno isn't music, sorry. Letting computers do all the work and turning knobs, well, a retarded kid could do that.

Rap/hip-hop is even worse. All these no talent fucks make songs with lyrics like "Ooomp, ooomp damn girl you's so fly"....where's the fucking talent in that? Again, a retarded 2 year old could record a modern day rap song.

Then these fucks make 60 million dollars off complete garbage because 99% of the population of the world listens to it since they never venture beyond the radio...or they like it because their friends do...Makes me fucking sick to my stomach.

Agreed. I dont think they could be called musicians.

Composers, maybe. And that would be pushing it.

Techno will never be big in the USA because the USA loves rock stars. They want to see freaks on stage jumping around putting on a show.

What fun would it be to watch 3 dorks from a distance, bobbing their heads in front of keyboards and turntables? Yee fucking haw. Yeah, I want to stand in a stadium and listen to 45 minute remixes of DJ Poopshoot giving me his rendintion of Ukranian house hits from December 2001.

Techno will always stay where its always been, clubs. And only club fags will listen to it. Cept for Europeans. They are so desperate for culture, they will latch onto anything that takes relatively no skill and even less money to get into. Like soccer.

So stick that fucking pacifier back in your mouth, grab your glowstick, and dance on you baggedy pants wearing fruits. And eat more x until your grey matter is black and you cant remember your own name.

I am in Detroit, home of techno. Half those artists you fruitcakes name can be seen around here most days of the week. You blow techno out of proportion. Yes... you do.

[Labret] 07-25-2002 02:55 AM

And I like some techno. I just think the scene is fucking deplorable.

Hey, that one's pretty good!
Some other good ones to check out:
Assemblage 23 - Breath of Ghosts
Icon of Coil - Floorkiller
The Horrorrist - One night in NYC (lotsa remixes around, most suck)
Ultraviolence - Strangled
Bile - URA Fucking Loser
Die Form - Rain of Blood

Ok, I admit, most of these aren't quite techno, but who gives a fuck. They're good anyway.

lagwagon 07-25-2002 11:01 AM

*sigh* just woke up, looks like you guys have been busy... how can you say that techno will never be big in the usa? techno is fine in clubs when you're watching 16 year olds girls melting their brains on X and trying to hump everyone in site....but I couldn't imagine the total retard sitting in his car listening to it....techno is fine in stripclubs when some 18 year old bimbo who's been fingered by her daddy and uncle since 9 is grinding to it for dollar bills in a darkened stripclub, but man, I just can't imagine anyone turning on a radio and going "ya know, I could handle a 25 minute song by Paul Oakenfold right now...unless of course they were devouring massive amounts of drugs sitting in a little circle jerk of friends...

now, if someone could point me to some techno artists that sang about satanic ritual sacrifice, devil worship, sex with nuns and with DJ's sporting inverted crucifixes on their record players...I could maybe give it a listen.........

so does the music enhance the drugs or do the drugs enhance the music?

Gimmy 07-25-2002 11:20 AM

What the # are you talking about ? :ugone2far
I simply love Techno / Trance.

DrGuile 07-25-2002 01:59 PM

I have to agree with Sykky, Techno is background music,

I like my music with a strong meaning, also, I like them short/non-repetitive.

A 12 minutes songs with every loop in it repeated for 64 bars is just masturbation... (and not the ogod kind of mastubation :)

when a techno song can say something like this, I will consider it:

"And yes, I recognize the irony that the very system I oppose affords me the luxury of biting the hand that feeds. But that's exactly why priviledged fucks like me should feel obliged to whine and kick and scream- until everyone has everything they need. "

To all those who say trance isnt music, or wont ever be big in america..

Why is it that when they have trance shows here in nyc, they cannot hold them in stadiums or regular concert halls, but hold them in parks and on randalls island. Last show clocked in over 255,000 people in attendance. Shows in miami bring in almost twice that amount. Other shows in cali and the valley/desert bring in 350,000+ sometimes.. Let's not even get into Europe's show attendences.. well over 1 million in some places..

So why wont rock stars do this? Because they cant entertain so many people for such long periods of time. Trance/Techno brings people together, it's like a musical marijuana. On marijuana people dont fight or get all rowdy, everyone is just chilled. They are there for the music, the girls or the drugs :winkwink:

klik 07-25-2002 03:45 PM
