Does audio in banner ads increase webmaster sign ups?

I thought those tricks were reserved for surfers and the like...

CaptainHowdy 01-05-2007 07:37 PM

Hearing impaired webmaster loves them...

MikeVega 01-05-2007 07:39 PM

no it creates more branding ... you just may take a 2nd look at the program logo and later recall it and check it out

Jace 01-05-2007 07:40 PM

through all the bitching it creates awareness for the program

that's what i would like to think.

some of them are ok. for people who have mainstream and adult coming out of the same office a select few can be extremely disruptive and embarrassing.

Babaganoosh 01-05-2007 07:45 PM

Which sponsor was it that had the farting banner that wouldn't stop on mouseout?

scottybuzz 01-05-2007 07:48 PM

the duke!!!!!!!!! hahhahahaa thats woken my parents up before whooooooops

RawAlex 01-05-2007 07:50 PM

The duke... I would never sign up for that program. If they can't repect my desire not to listen to that entire speech every time I accidently run my mouse past their banner....

BusterBunny 01-05-2007 07:55 PM

none of that shit works on me..........
(the duke blew my eardrums out now i can't hear them:( )

Agent 488 01-05-2007 07:56 PM

Sorry, but how are you coming up with this conclusion? How exactly does the audio increase branding? Unless, of course, the audio screams out the name of the program.

when the audio goes off you look to see who's banner it is .. then see the company. If it says the company it's even better. I don't know how many Top banners you've bought no GFY but out of the 5 or so months i have the audio ones seemed to get more clicks and I had more overall Aff sign-ups those months. Not to mention the numerous threads about ever audio banner. I also know another company that was mentioned in this thread that told me they had the same results.

So I'm going off that ... my experiences with it

im interested to know if those clicks and signups convert into webmasters that send a decent number of member signups/traffic. i think a lot of the savvy webmasters have fond ways to block the banners because of the audio and so you might be getting more webmaster traffic but is it better webmaster traffic...

BitAudioVideo 01-05-2007 09:22 PM

just want to add...

i block ads.gofuckyourself.com in my hosts file because i hate the audio ads...

if gfy were to put non audio ads on noaudioads.gofuckyourself.com i wouldnt block it, and i would be more inclined to buy advertising myself.

I, for one, have never looked up to see whose banner was putting out the audio. Just an FYI

I don't have exact % but a good amount of them send some traffic and you always hope for a few gems . All I know is that with all the bitching that comes along with an audio banner you also get a bigger response ..

So you have no idea who any of the companies are with sound banners? not even from threads started about it or because of the sound it's self? I find that very hard to believe .. FYI

I find most of what he says hard to believe. I think the money from the Taco Bell crooked neck lawsuit is starting to run out.

CC 01-05-2007 09:35 PM

God I despise those ads.

Juilan 01-05-2007 09:36 PM

If you listen closely... you can hear them creating buzz

I know Duke and OC Cash, because they mention their names. I knew the incredible dollars banner did because of the skin.

I could not tell you who else has an audio banner.

Young 01-05-2007 09:48 PM

Something else that gets me is the use of GeoIP tracking in Banner Ads and Sig Ads.

I mean....isn't that novelty meant for the naive?
