So,, how long is your cookie good for.

I notice several ccbill programs have their cookies expire in less than 3 days.. many only good for one day.. some good for a week, quite a few only good for 30 days & so on.

I chose to set mine to the maximum allowed by ccbill, which is 255 days.

Is this a bad idea, or a good idea.

Why should my cookie be good for 255 days when majority of others set them to expire so soon.

Anyway, I want to know who else has theirs set to the max so I can drop all the others who have them expire

What? No body wants to talk about cookies :1orglaugh

good idea - most webmasters would appreciate that.

Not a bad plan, 255 is way better than 3

I bring Tim Tams to the USA everytime I come.

Here in Seattle a packet of them cookies lasts about 30 minutes.

The longer the cookie is set for, the better...for the affiliate. When I notice a cookie is set for only a few days i simply stop/won't promote the program. A cookie that's only set for a day or so is theft from the affiliate in my eyes. You are a good guy spacedog.

i am all right with whatever,i do enough mainstream to know that even having a cookie past a day or so is a blessing

if I can't make the sale from someone clicking from my sales pitch, then so be it

well you should decide this from the management point of view, Personally I think its a good idea to give all the credit to the webmaster's that originally sent this traffic to your site at first place. :)!

I did decide it & am questioning why others have their cookies expire so soon. No doubt in my mind that I will do what's good for the affiliates. I've been on the affiliate level myself all this time & even still am, so I know the pet peeves people have. So, naturally, when I was in the admin, when I had to decide on cookie expiration, I chose for the longest possible, which was 255 days.

I see programs with cookies expire in one day? WTF! That's horseshit.

you're webmasters. I presume you know how to check your sponsors cookies, correct?

Go dump your cache so that it is empty. (make sure gfy is closed btw!)

then visit various ccbill billed paysites via your affiliate linking codes.
Now go to your cache & see the cookies.. they will show expiration dates..
See what I'm talking about,

I mean, I understand different reasons for the cookie expiration, but 1 day or even 3 days is just horseshit.
