how do I move my domains in godaddy to another registrar

i just hate the admin area in godaddy, what is the link/name called to move your domain over to another registrar, say if my domain got sold?

and is there a waiting limit time?
thanks in advance.

very carefully.

I think the process takes 5 business days in total, I've only moved to GoDaddy before but moving from shouldn't be hard at all.

DaddyHalbucks 01-05-2007 01:33 PM

Yea, I moved all of my domains over to Moniker, and I have been very happy.

:)

DaddyHalbucks 01-05-2007 01:34 PM

Chris @ Moniker, get in here!

;)

crockett 01-05-2007 01:38 PM

you first get an account with other registrar ( NameCheap, Dotster, Moniker etc ) and then you initiate the transfer from their end - it's a quite simple process

but keep in mind that if you have changed even a single thing for your domains in past 2 months - GoDaddy won't allow you to transfer your domains away

it is harder than you think. And they make it that way, because they dont want to lose a few pennies.

hi thanks - whats the link called please

and im not moving all my domains, just one that I am selling soon to another party.

(if I am selling is there anything else I need to do?)

Boobs 01-05-2007 01:43 PM

click the domain u want to transfer,

there will be an option for "AUTH INFO - send by email" click that and they will email you the codes you need to transfer your domain

crockett 01-05-2007 01:43 PM

It's the EPP code.. you have to requst them to send it to you.. but good luck I've been waiting two days. It's BS these registars can get away with such shit service. BTW I think it was in the contact's section but I'm not 100%

DaddyHalbucks 01-05-2007 01:47 PM

Consolidate all of your domains at one or two registrars, it makes life alot easier.

crockett 01-05-2007 01:47 PM

Yea it's the "Authorization Code: Send by Email " link in the contavcts section. But good luck getting it..

LOL... I have show up when the call goes out! Porn_aristocrat is exactly right in assessing the process. You should set up an account at the registrar that you wish to transfer the names into. After doing that your next step should be to send an email request to the releasing registrar asking for all of the EPP codes for your domain names. Then you send along that information to your new registrar and they should take care of the transfer for you! ;)

Now as Crockett and Pornguy rightly observed, sometimes the releasing registrar can be a bit... umm... cranky and ... err... difficult about releasing the names, and will make you go through a few hoops... but look at the bright side, if you are moving the domain names to an excellent registrar, you will only have to go through the hoops once!! ;)! ... If you have any questions (no matter which registrar you are moving to) give me a yell and I will do my best to help you out! Cheers!

Na leave the domain unlocked and request the EPP code.. Just got off the phone with godaddy support.. seems the domain has to be unlocked before you request the EPP code.

Which is something they make no mention of anywhere in their site that I could find.

Anyway.. it's funny talking to those phone support guys when it's all adult names..lol All the names I had at godaddy were shemale or gay.

Guy on the phone.. So which domain is that you were having trouble with. Always funny to answer with oh it's fuckyou.com or what ever.. :1orglaugh

cheekycherry 01-05-2007 02:41 PM

Good luck! I tried to no avail...

IF it is a .co.uk you may have additional work to do for Nominet, proof of ownership change or whatever. Have never done one from Go Daddy before though.

MaDalton 01-05-2007 02:51 PM

just send me your account name and password, i'll do it for you :thumbsup

Z 01-05-2007 03:26 PM

GoDaddy is a complete clusterfuck. Talk to Chris at Moniker and be done with the bullshit, once and for all.
