Is Hawaii Worth Going To ??

The wife and I are planning a vacation in March/April and are considering going to Hawaii since neither of us have been there before. Is it worth going to ??

Crasy Bitch 01-05-2007 09:25 AM

I've never been, but I dream of living there for a year or two.
Hope you guys enjoy it :)

BigCashCrew 01-05-2007 09:26 AM

Yes, I was just there for my honeymoon. It is beautiful. We were in Waikiki. Go swim with dolphins and surf. It's gorgeous and the people are nice. There are lots of Japanese tourists driving up the prices so bring lot's of money. It's not cheap.

DaddyHalbucks 01-05-2007 09:29 AM

I have always wanted to go there. Will go someday.

fris 01-05-2007 09:32 AM

my brother use to live there for 5 years, he loved it

Flow 01-05-2007 10:24 AM

It's great but I would take Cancun over Hawaii any day of the week! Ocean is a lot nicer to swim in, cheapers, tons of things to do and the weather was great!

JD 01-05-2007 10:26 AM

go to Maui! I've been there 7 times and plan on going back again and again

Brandon99 01-05-2007 10:31 AM

Hell Yes!!!

Eric 01-05-2007 10:33 AM

I have stayed away from the big islands. We have done Kauai a couple times. If you like a more natural environment and tons of outdoor activities then I highly recommend it.

Cancun and Cozumel are gorgeous also. Much less expensive and still tons of things to do.

I also highly recommend Cabo. Was just in Cabo for the New Year and it is a great time and very beautiful down there also.

ive only ever been in the airport..lol

id like to go back though...maybe on the way back from korea next year..stop there for a few days

The big island is amazing

One side lush and tropical the other mostly volcano rock

great black sand beaches. lots of stuff to see and do. Great golfing. Volcano national park ect ect

Kauai is absolutly beautiful. Wiamea national park is a must see site. Fern Groto great diving

I love hawaii

Slick 01-05-2007 10:52 AM

Thanks for all of the comments, I guess we'll definately head over there then. We'll just have to decide on which island to go to :)

As far as Cancun goes, we actually did go there 2 years ago and we had a good time, the water was beautiful.

JasonB 01-05-2007 10:56 AM

Maui is the best. Stay at the Grand Wailea

CuriousToyBoy 01-05-2007 10:58 AM

I'm thinking of honeymooning there.

Bring on the recommendations !

;-)

Hawaii is a great place, lots of beautiful beaches, lots beautiful girls
and lots of liquor drinks.

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

StuartD 01-05-2007 11:21 AM

Nah, they have a multi billion dollar per year tourism industry because no one really wants to go there.

iamkathi 01-05-2007 11:25 AM

I second the Grand Wailea and for sure do Maui. I have been many times and I love it like a second home.

axelcat 01-05-2007 11:31 AM

go to maui

aimeesweet 01-05-2007 11:33 AM

I love Kauai... truly one of the most naturally beautiful places I have ever been...

WOW, that place looks amazing :) It's a little on the pricey side, but this is a vacation for the wife and I, so I definately don't have a problem dropping the cash on it :)

Is that the best placein Maui ?? Are there any others I should consider ?

ADL Colin 01-05-2007 11:43 AM

Definitely.I stayed on Kauai

Got Porn? 01-05-2007 11:44 AM

Stay away from The Polynesian Cultural Center. I hated it!

Slick 01-05-2007 11:50 AM

One thing that's strange that I'm seeing are the flights. I see that flying there from here, I leave in the morning and be there in 8 hours, but return flights from Maui ONLY leave in the late afternoon/evening, so I'd leave there anywhere from 5pm-9pm and not get home until 2pm-5pm the FOLLOWING DAY. That's through NWA, I'll have to check the other airlines that are in my area.

Hollywood376 01-05-2007 11:51 AM

I love Hawaii.

Each Island that I have ben to has something different to offer, so it will be hard to say where to go without knowing what you like.

Kuaii, for example, is pretty laid back, not much population. It's an older island so it's got this very distinct iron red dirt and very dense foliage. Waimea (sp?) canyon is very cool there.

Mauii is like the luxury island. great for golfers, shopping.

Hawaii (aka the big island) is neat because one side is a desert, volcanic rock for days. The other side freaking great for deep sea fishing, scuba diving.

Oahu isn't my favorite, because there are a lot of people there. But there are still a loy of great things to see and do on the island. The north side is awesome, especially in the winter. the freaking waves get huge.

so, yes...Hawaii is worth a look.

Did you figure in the 5 hour time zone difference?

Slick 01-05-2007 12:05 PM

Ooooh no, I never realized there was that much of a difference. I'll do some more figuring here :)

Slick 01-05-2007 12:09 PM

Well, I think I found the problem. I think with the 5 hour time difference and 4-6 hour wait time between the last connect, that sure brings the return home time up :)

Got Porn? 01-05-2007 12:12 PM

8 hour flight there is really 13 hrs
20 hour flight home is really 15 hrs

And with the wind stream it always takes longer to fly west to east.

ArkansasDave 01-05-2007 01:02 PM

HECK YA MAN! especially if you surf man its a MUST!
I LOVE Hawaii, great place!
GO! :thumbsup :thumbsup

BAKO 01-05-2007 01:03 PM

I been there twice and will go back many more times

Thanks for clearing that up, it makes a lot of sense.

betsy 01-05-2007 01:47 PM

Yes!! We stayed at the 4 seasons on the big island for our honeymoon and it was INCREDIBLE. If you want more activity and less luxury, I'd suggest staying somewhere on the south side of Kauaii, or around Wailea in Maui.

btw I think the "Revealed" series of books are great for the islands... I have bought many guide books about hawaii and these had the most info that was useful to me. Like, Maui Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook (Paperback) by Andrew Doughty on amazon for example.

needlive 01-05-2007 02:32 PM

I'd be happy to get there one day.

Poppy 01-05-2007 02:40 PM

Maui is awesome! Just got back. Stayed in Wailea down in the Southwest and tons to do activity wise.

Took a day trip to Oahu and did Pearl Harbor and the North Shore. Stayed in Waikiki and can only spend a day there. Otherwise Waikiki wasn't my cup of tea. Great place to learn how to surf though.

en21 01-05-2007 03:24 PM

one of the place which I always want to visit
