How do you handle this upgrade?

Do as suggested and make backups of all Db´s and Files, deactivate plugins or just overwrite the old files and start upgrading?

Were there some Problems with upgrading in the past?

Are there any changed files to upload, or code to modify since there are no db updates?

where is the changelog?
