Image in Blogs , Where to link?

I am currently thinking about the main aspect of Picture Blogs.

What is the better method?

1) Posting 1 or 2 Images (smaller) and Link them to a Hosted Gallery

or

2) Post 3-4 Images (bigger) and link them to the Join Page/Home Page?

Reasons for 1) :
- Surfers will be satisfied that they get their pictures for free / will come back
- Itīs more honest because clicking on a link and getting to see some pictures is the reason why Blogs get more and more preffered instead of TGPīs which link each picture to somewhere else where the surfer canīt see pictures

Reasons for 2):
- The Surfer only sees 3-4 Images and if he likes it he is "forced" to signup or he will not see more pictures -> More signups (????)
- The content isnīt flooded over the Net

I am currently using 1) but thinking about changing it on some Blogs to 2).

What is your opinion about this? What does better for you and why?

you could 'split test' both options and then you will see for yourself what works best because things work differently for everyone

i personally use one ...

problem is over saturation - even if you post links to join pages ... they can go elsewhere to get free galleries. assuming the gallery doesn't give away too much free stuff, you could still benefit.

just be sure you don't mix - that'd be jacking around people too much.

Have you considered No.3 linking to a larger pic on a html page with a few banners/text links.

Hm sure but that would mean some extra work for every post you make. a good way for 2-3 Blogs but for 6-7 Blogs with 2-3 Posts a day each 2-3 Pictures ? :/

You could always use Arlyia.

I'm a big fan of one, both in designing and visiting.
