Strongbox and feeds.. Cannot get it to work. Any advice?

Im using bad ass feeds (aebn)
and platinum feeds. Now, I love the content on both, but after installing strong box i have a strong headache. The feeds dont work. I read aebns little tutorial, but that didnt work, spoke to Kroum from p bucks and that didnt help either. Here is the kicker: If i take down my firewall, teh aebn feeds work but the platinum bucks feeds dont. If i put up the firewall the aebn feeds dont work and the platinum bucks do. Weird... Soiunds like a problem for Smokey, but I'll take any help I can get. Will even pay for your trouble.
Thx guys,
Duke

if I turn on my firewall on my computer I cant see feeds if I turn it off I can see them

Its prob a couple of things due to the feeds security settings. I dunno know if those feeds base their user authentication on refering urls but if they do then it could be why a firewall or security program could affect them from playing. Also strong box uses dynamic subdomains so that could also affect the feeds if they look at refering urls.

Bless you Duke, have you tried asking Ray?

rounders 01-03-2007 04:08 AM

You will prob have to tell AEBN to allow the wildcard, for your referral domains

this is your answer, I had the same issue....just inform aebn techs that you have strongboxxx and it uses wildcard subdomain.... *.members.domain.com

shit man, wierd

did you try and contact Ray from Strongboxxx? he is usually pretty good at diagnosing issues like this...when you can find him...haha

the weird thing that you said though is about the firewall...why would one work with it off and one work with it on?

definitely hit up Ray, if you can find him

gleem 01-03-2007 08:10 AM

I dunno, I use proxy pass, never had any problems with feeds.

Listen to Theo and ask Ray, he'll eventually get back to you, he's a good guy.

Hey Duke

If you are looking for a new content provider check our feeds out. Subdomains are not an issue with our feeds! However we do use referring url’s which are commonly blocked by firewalls.

I can give you a free month trial and help you get our content set up, if you’re game.

Hi Duke,

Our feeds do work with strongbox.
If you want I can give you a free week to try them ..

Hit me up on ICQ or send me an email if you're interested

Here is how to fix your problem

<html>
<frameset rows="1,*" border=0 frameborder="NO">
<frame src="#" border=0 noresize>
<frame
src="h t t p :// w w w. your_site .com/members/aebn.html"
border=0 noresize>
</frameset>
</html>

Cheers

If your still having problems with the feeds, hit me up in email or ICQ.

I work for AEBN, and handle a lot of the technical problems. Usually all the other reps send any feeds issues my way.

We had these probs back when I was at Mobbucks too. Strong box generates member urls on the fly so some of the feeds think they are unapproved/hack urls. You can usually talk to the feed provider to see if they will set the permissions up to handle the variable SB puts in.
