Great flick. It's foreign, so you'll have to put up with subtitles, but overall, it was very well done, and a great story to boot.

Yes, Leonardo DiCaprio will be to future generations what Robert Deniro is to us. A legend. He'll take an Oscar home this year. Too bad he can't have 2 nominations for Best Actor at once. He deserves it for Blood Diamond and The Departed.

My vote goes to 'The Departed'.

The force was assembled and in action by April, taking just 11 days to drive the rebels away from the capital and, using helicopter gunships, chase them out of the diamonds fields. The most interesting aspect of all this, however, is perhaps the method of payment. The chronically impoverished government of Sierra Leone apparently paid for these services by giving a company called Branch Energy the concession to operate the Koidu diamond field (the Sierra Leone government retains a 60-percent ownership). Reputedly, Branch Energy is owned by Strategic Resources Group, a British company based in the Bahamas, that in turn owned Executive Outcomes. It seems that the firm was able to barter its services for large shares of a client nation's natural resources and commodities. According to a British government evaluation reported by Inter Press Service: "On present showing, Executive Outcomes will become ever richer and more potent, capable of exercising real power, even to the extent of keeping military regimes in being. If it continues to expand at the present rate, its influence in sub-Saharan Africa could become crucial."

That is one I really want to see...my favorite critic (who has a PHD in horror fiction) called it the Citizen Kane of fantasy horror. I enjoyed Devil's Backbone so it sounds like I will enjoy this one too.

Seen it a while ago, it's one of the better movies i've seen this year, even while i am not into fantasy. Btw, the kid, her mother and stepfather dies.

:thumbsup :thumbsup I liked everything but the ending. I liked the 'Tomorrow' ship and the symbolism of it... but I just really didn't care for the ending overall. Still one helluva movie regardless.

I'd have to go with The Departed

At the moment nothing comes to mind as I've seen so many movies in the last year and the majority have been absolute garbage. I will say that 300 looks like it will be a visual feast for 2007! Can't wait.

Blood Diamond was great but I have to go with Lucky Number Slevin
