What do people want to be paid for a "webmaster" job these days?

Job description would be:

Setup and maintain sites using free/provided scripts.
Sites would be pic rating sites, top 50 sites, creating adsense sites, forums, doing basic HTML, small design, things like this, mainstream and adult.

Full time job whats the monthly pay thats expected?

this is true but remember a lot of times you get what you pay for... i'd rather pay someone the extra money and not have to hold their hand throughout every project you give them

Like the other guy said, you get what you pay for, sure you can find some idiot doing what you described for $5/hr, but you will have to babysit him/her and the work will most likely be crap...

allso depends from that part of the world u want a person from.

Nothern europe : more expensive, but in many means , have better understanding of trends, computers, design ect

Southe Europe / usa : same as above but probably a bit cheaper

old est block : in many regards, good, but havent been on the internet wave as long as europe/usa, and can be a problem ( i know theres alot of very good webmasters from that area, i'm just saying if you pick out someone at random, theres a bigger chance of getting a noob than in other areas :D )

asia : cheaper - but their culture is very differend. Have done buissness with design and programming companies in India, Indonesia ect - and must say i will not do that again, unless i know from others, that we work in a good way.
My exp has shown that deadlines and feedback, isnt valued as high as in usa/europe

If I had to do a fulltime job, i wouldt ask something like 5500 $
But i allso have education is this field - have been a webmaster for 5 + years, do gfx and 3d :)

but i'm not looking for a job :) do make that money in other ways with less working hours that 7-8 hours a day :)

What you have to consider is what you "Bring to the table."

What exactly are you offering besides wages and what level of skills/talent/devotion do you require?

At the moment I see you offering very little that someone with a bit of finance could not set up himself assuming he had the skills you require.

I recently spoke to the MD/CEO of a major UK porn publisher. They are looking to again try to break into the Internet. They publish magazines and I doubt if the editors earn more than $50,000 a year. They would never pay that to a webmaster to run their sites.

I showed him my site, told him what it cost to set up and run and then told him the membership and revenue it generates. Then told him the guy he's looking for needs to be a lot more skilled than me to do what he needs.

And should be able to make twice what he earns.

He is rethinking his plans.

And that illustrates the problem with the Adult Internet. Financially the bar is low for entry, skills/talent level is high for success. Whether you work for yourself or others.

So, no one knows the general pay range for this job description? Outsourcing companies are not an option. But a qualified candidate can work from home. I dont care if he works 3 hours a day or 12 hours a day as long as what I need gets done in a reasonable time.

$10 a day and a 6 pack of red bull.
