Seemed staged. :2 cents:

Is it just me or ???

SomeCreep 01-01-2007 09:39 PM

I just finished watching the fight on youtube and 1 minute later, all the videos got pulled.

Vendzilla 01-01-2007 09:40 PM

I watched it on PPV, Tito just wasn't up to it, got his eye cut up good

georgeyw 01-01-2007 09:54 PM

how does it seem staged?

chuck lidell looks pretty old? How oldis that guy?

Also I thought Tito was alot bigger??

maybe he doesnt like the sight of his own blood..

He def didnt look right . even from the beginning before he took any serious damage. It was either an act or he did too much blow the night before ( or too little )

tito seemed slow. maybe it was just him being cautious because he was scared to fight liddell.

I wonder how easy it would be though for someone nefarious to drug tito before the fight and place a big bet on lidell,

mattz 01-01-2007 10:05 PM

awesome thanks for the link

reynold 01-01-2007 10:14 PM

Tito got hit pretty hard by Chuck's punches. That clearly defined the 3rd round.

sicone 01-01-2007 10:16 PM

He never really seems to fully defend himself

drjones 01-01-2007 10:43 PM

Tito is usually a lot more energetic than that.. was a pretty lame fight all and all.

JohnnyPearl 01-01-2007 11:11 PM

Nice post thanks.

split_joel 01-01-2007 11:15 PM

lol staged are you a moron? Tito just is not a match for chuck yet simple as that, Tito was scared of getting hit he was trying to play wise but didn't quite pull it off simple as that

coca-cola 01-01-2007 11:32 PM

i watched their first match (i dunno when was that) and tito is no match for chuck...

actually it wasnt tito's performance i thought seemed staged .. chuck seemed to hold back on every punch.. either way i dont think that quite makes me a moron heh .. i said it seemed staged . the industry is well known to fix fights.. i was asking opinions on this one:thumbsup happy new years

I don't think you understand with how much accuracy Lidell's punch come in. The guy has also a very good take down def... Stupid ufs fans were giving 51/49 as the odds, but it definitly wasn't anything like that for the real MMA enthousiasts... Every one know Lidell had tremendous chances to win this one.

You can't just run into chuck with your head down with Chuck and expect to win ... And you definitly can't really outbox him. (I'd love to see him fight Wand that'd be a good one.)

Also remember it was 2 old training partners fighting. Theses guys have lots of respect for each other. When you have no grudge, you don't come in with all you got, you just fight smart.

madawgz 01-02-2007 02:57 AM

i didnt see anything wrong with the fight

Vitasoy 01-02-2007 04:10 AM

Ortiz was lucky to get out of the first round. Maybe a slight quick stoppage but it was clear chuck was going to win

theS2O 01-02-2007 05:27 AM

chuck owned tito. period. ;)

lol he won i wouldn't push that.. getting owned is getting knocked out...

tito hopped up right after the match was called off.

Chuck was certainly the better fighter, but nobody got owned except those who paid to watch it :winkwink:

I'll explain a bit more why i thought it looked staged , and why i could be wrong..

First off i'll say i wanted to see tito get his ass kicked , i'm not a huge ufc watcher but i have seen both of them fight a few times.

Chuck basiclly fought like he usually does with 3 minor exceptions..
#1 at one point he let tito get up instead of stomping his face ( now this isnt totally uncommon when 1 fighter is outclassed on the ground )
#2 he threw alot of wide overhand punches , i havent watch his style but perhaps this is either his style or a certain technique he planned to use against ortiz
#3 at one point tito is grappling with him on the ground trying to put a choke on him and chuck simply stands up with tito practically clinging to his back, this is something you rarely see, it either speaks volumes about chucks strength or ortiz losing his strength..

Tito on the other hand looked nothing like he usually fights.. never so aprehensive. never so lax. he is like a rabid dog.. after the one punch to the side of the head he just seemed gutless ..

So i guess its also equally as possible i underestimate chucks power and missed the importance of chuck not being tito's "enemy" for tito's aggresiveness

or maybe tito just did a bunch of blow the night before.

ajrocks 01-02-2007 07:14 AM

Staged? no way it was a good fight.

In the post fight press conference chuck said he had a broken tenant in his hand or finger. He had it all taped up. Tito joked and said it was because his head is so big :1orglaugh
Also rumors chuck went in with a bad acl.

Thats just Chucks style. He likes to fight standing, and for good reason. His strength is in his punches. In most fights I've seen him in he will usually let the other guy stand up, rather than try and grapple with him on the ground. He wants to knock people out, not submit them. He is generally on the ground only the amount of time it takes him to get back up.

1. Foot stomps are illegal in the UFC(are in pride), Chuck rarely stays on the ground with some one. Alot say he's a better wrestler then Tito, but Chuck like to stay standing.

2. That's Chuck's style, always has been

3. Chuck is famous for his ability to get up when taken down.
