Designing a Design Site.
 

Hey People,

I'm working on a design site. The site is by no means done, but the main page is almost done, along with the Flash movie there.

Hopefully, I'll be done in the next day or so. Tell me what you guys think.

Honest: The Flash work is paaaaainfuuuuully drawn out..... and doesn't integrate well with the rest of what you got there.... the menu needs work, it's partially obscured by the cheesy lightning and in that bland BankGothic font with no defining background whatsoever.... and the music really sucks dude.... I personally hate sites with audio because I listen to my massive mp3 archives while I work and it fucks with my world..... and your gradient isn't smooth.

Like I said, too much bass! :thumbsup

I feel like I've just been grilled by Simon from American Idol.

Seriously, I do respect your opinion and in fact, even contacted you a few months ago about some paysite design work.

With everything you mentioned, I completely agreed with. Trust me, I am my own worst critic.

I wasn't offended for a second, man. I can take constructive critisism very well.

BTW - Sorry to hear that you're not going to the GFY Party Boat thing. You were one of the main people I was really looking forward to hanging out with. I have a friend that doesn't look too much unlike you.

get rid of the gay lightning down the left hand side

make it fit in an 800x600 browser

dont open new windows on the link menu,
just load a new flash movie in place of the main one you should preload each movie in the visitors cache while the home movie runs and then if they want a larger view call a popup window.

Hey Turbo ... my main criticism is same as Amp ... the flash is painfully slow ... Flash is a popular medium due to it's high framerate .... take advantage of it !!:winkwink:

I'd have to agree with amp about the menu, could be more defined... the lightning would be cooler if it was more 'in the background'. Did you compose the music?

i think you should try to stick with simplicity. flash is unnecessary unless that's your design niche or you're doing some cool interface stuff with it. orchiddesigns page rocks. and the explicit-design page is also very sexy.

Shit - It's after 1pm. I hate when I get up this late. I've been trying to get up earlier lately.

Anyhow, thanks everyone for your opinions. Looks like it's back to the drawing board for me. I don't like the entire thing at all.
