HugeTraffic / Fling oddities in stats
 

Ok, here's the deal... I started promoting Fling.com on one of my sites, and have had a few signups. Great. Now, the oddities that I'm seeing is that, in my traffic stats, I see a shitload of referrers, but I have nothing to do with any of these sites. I'm not promoting on any of them, nor do I even link to or from these sites. The _____________.com sites are my own.

How can I be getting traffic from these places? It seems very strange to me, almost fake. Some of the referring URLs are images, which makes no sense at all. ( http://babe-a-licious.com/g/g683/2006-11-15-med.jpg n/a 1 0 )

Dude, everyone who promotes Flings gets these.

I think that this occurs because YOUR free signups are yours forever. So if one of your free signups goes to, say, madthumbs.com and clicks on the fling ads, it counts under your account rather than theirs.

It is nothing nefarious and I think it's better than someone else being able to convert your free signups.

The password and username isnt the same for nastydollars as hugetraffic? I cant check my fing stats at all, just on the bottom of the nastydollars stats page. Any idea how I can check it? You have me curious now, cause I just checked and im 1:21 with 5 frees today. I'd love to see where they came from

I'm not sure why this happens, I'll have the programmers look into this and when I get an answer I'll let everyone know.

Surfer clicks on your link and a cookie is set on his computer. He doesn't sign up but continues to surf and then comes back to Fling later with your cookie, as it is set on his computer, and you get credit if he joins. :thumbsup
