I applaud the NY Times For........

More and more, I think that the media such as the NY Times is sensing that American's are generally more willing to accept and view sex between consenting adults as a normal/natural/healthy part of life, NOT as something to feel quilty about like those radical right-wing religious wacko hypocrites want us to feel---many of these same hypocrites enjoy adult sites, masturbate, and then inappropriately feel like they've sinned and need to condemn adult entertainment (that is, until the next time they get the natural/normal/healthy urge to visit a site and jerk-off again--then, their cycle repeats itself again). What HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!

You can't say FUCK in the NY Times article about porn

When the NY Times profiles porn stars and producers, and treats them as seriously as your favorite primetime TV stars, you know how mainstream porn has become. The NY Times is a liberal rag, but it is also the best paper in the nation. Most astonishing they could write this article, full of porn buzzwords like "niche" and "Gonzo" but not use "MILF" anywhere. The only reasonable explanation is that the editors thought it too vulgar (in this context - ha!) to use an acronym for "FUCK". You can't say FUCK in the NY Times article about porn. Welcome to 2007!

And by "healthy", I mean not only sexually, but also emotionally and physically; and, encompassed within "Physically Healthly" I mean masturbation/jacking-off/jilling-off and others ways to have sex with consenting adults (even if that other "consenting adult" is oneself/one's hand/a sex toy/etc)---with oncoming cell phone and other pocket-type delivery systems that I imagine the future will creatively find, it might become "normal" for: office folks to periodically head for a restroom stall to whack/jill off, then returning far more focused, less sexually stressed, and much more productive; and, folks checking out sex clips before they get on a busy road/freeway, and climaxing before entering traffic (hence, they will probably be more attentive to their driving--a boom in the effort to cut back on road accidents)--heck, someday, perhaps highway rest areas might possibly also include a drive up enclosed and private spot for masturbating before getting back on the road. Gosh, maybe drive-up blow-up doll rental stations might suface, too!

Indeed, sex between consenting adults is natural, normal, and healthy; and, the politicians need to stop listening to the radical religious hypoctitics who themselves ALSO fantasize and get-off!!!!!!

Thanks, New York Times:-))

Thanks for the kind comments, but this is about ALL of us, not me ---the more we adult entertainment folks (you, Gentlemen's Clubs, video, Internet, me etc) get in the media as everyday stuff, the more it makes "Cummunuity Standards" more difficult for prosecutors and courts to measure obscenity-charges boundaries. IMHO, the government will be hard pressed given the "normalness" of us no longer being NON-mainstream. We ALL win by stories like this one, I feel:-))

Extremely well said Dave. I spent 10 years running adult bookstores and I used to repeatedly hear the argument from local newspapers, religious groups, city prosecutors, etc. that my stores brought crime to whatever location they inhabited and the movies we sold/showed in our arcade areas caused an increase in sex crimes. The stupidity of those statements used to astound me. We were zoned to where we could only operate in the worst parts of town, including the highest grossing store I ran that was located next door to one of the most violent housing projects in Ohio. It was poverty that caused the crime, not porn. As for the sex crime comments I can't imagine the amount of sex crimes that would occur on a daily basis if adults didn't have porn as a healthy, normal way to relieve sexual tension.

On a separate note I had a chance to hang out with you a bit at the Internext in New Orleans back in 2000 at a private party someone (can't really remember who) had at a second story apartment on Bourbon St. You were a class act all the way and a lot of fun to hang with. I have some really funny video of you and a midget that I would be happy to send you if you're interested.

Ah, yes, the myth of secondary effects that so many local DA's have been using to deny permits and close bookstores and gentlemen's clubs. The Free Speech Coalition did some reseach and coordination and then provided counter-arguments for some defendants to use, and now many courts are throwing out charges and ordering reimbursement of attorney fees.

Yes, I recall New Orleans. I remember some guy having his wife give me head so he could film it for her website content, but I don't recall her being a midget (but, the head felt so good that I might not have noticed?).

That's the one I remember her naked sitting on a bar stool when I first walked in. She might not have been a conventional midget but she was damn close :winkwink: She was a really cool chick and the party was a great time. I'll get it uploaded and send it over to you.

We actually had Louis Sirkin defend us when the city tried to unsuccessfully close us down by making public indecency arrests in our arcade and attempting to label us a public nuisance. We had the money to fight it and after a long, drawn out battle we won our case and Louis is now attempting to recover our legal fees, which were astronomical. Unfortunately a lot of businesses that didn't have the money just closed up shop and left, which was the city's strategy from the get go. They figure right or wrong if they can tie you up in court long enough you will eventually run out of money and disappear.

Connor 01-03-2007 09:49 AM

Dave, you are a class act! This industry is lucky to have people like you representing us!
