HELP: codec problem
Since I've got my new computer, I've been having problems with video and audio codecs.. something's just fucked up..
I think I've got every codec I need (tried everything, just installing codecs one by one, different codec packs, etc.) but for example (with an MPEG file (!!!)).. I can open the video in windows media player classic... I can see the video, but no sound.. and when I open it in Media Player 10, I can hear the sound, but no video. I can edit some movies with AVI/MPEG/ASF/WMV Splitter, and then edit them with TMPGenc without a problem, but I can also do the same, and then when I try to edit with TMPGenc, it doesn't get any sound.. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Please note, I'm not new to this, cause on my old computer it's still working fine.. but there's just a problem with codecs I guess... |
When you say codec, do you mean a media player of some flavor or actual codec patches of some sort?
I guess I'm just bumping this for you with a lame question. *shrug* |
you can use this free tool Video Inspector to help see which codecs are missing.

uhm, videoinspector is nice, but...
I think I have all codecs... I mean, I'm playing an MPEG file, one program only shows sound and no video, other program vice versa. And when I open it in a video eding tool like AVI MPEG ASF WMV Splitter, it shows both.. so I'd like to know what's going on :) Thanks tho, appreciate the help! |
does your "new" computer look like this?
