pr0 12-29-2006 05:00 AM

was it someone from norway, the netherlands, or sweden?

notabook 12-29-2006 07:06 AM

Dunno why those people in that article are saying this gives Blu-ray a leg up over HD-DVD, Blu-ray uses AACS too lol.

Here comes round 2 of that DCSS battle. You'd think the MPAA would have learned its lesson last time. Respect Fair Use.

free4porn 12-29-2006 08:01 AM

i think blu-ray will win because of ps3

a) X-Box 360 has HD DVD add on drive (plus it is just a matter of time before they make it one unit).

b) The REDUCED price of a BluRay player is still $300 more than the original price of the HD DVD player ($800 vs. $500) and the $350 HD DVD player is right around the corner. $450 for a picture that is at best equal but from several reputable sources a crappier picture.

c) HD DVD movies are cheaper

d) The majority of the people who buy PS3 do it for games not Ble Ray DVDs.

My money is on one of two things:

1) HD DVD will win out (remember is was Sony that brought us Beta and now Blu Ray).

2) They will begin selling a DVD player that will play both formats with one drive. There are 4 companies out there working on this very thing (only problem will be these players will be even more expensive that either of the other two individual players)

On a related note to this tread - the Studios where very worried about people being able to hack into HD DVDs and Blu Ray disks as described in this article - so much so that many were hesitent to release their movies in the new format. This could be very bad new for both formats as studios could very well stop selling HD DVDs all together. Their investment to date is limited and sales are not that great for either format. Could be the death of both formats (but not likely as they still sell DVDs and they have been cracked for years and years).

Get a faster machine. :winkwink: But final renders do take longer.

HentaiGuy 12-29-2006 09:12 AM

When DVD first came out they made a claim that it couldn't be cracked and decoded......that took about two days to do after such a bold statement. There is always someone out there who is willing to take an "impossible" challenge and make it possible. Thanks for the post.

Excellent point. I almost forgot about Beta.
