Can anyone tell me where I can get more of these???

Hey guys. I bought a new computer for my girlfriend last week. Its a Compaq Presario and I just ordered a new DVD drive to install as well. I've been putting together my own systems for years but I've never seen anything like this. The 'rack' that holds the components has this green 'quick release thingy' that allows you to add or pull drives without having to screw them in (you just slide them in and they snap into place).

Problem is that I need 4 more of these special screws for the new DVD drive and I don't know what they are called or where to even begin looking for them. Anyone have any clue as to where I can get more of these screws?

Just rip that crazy green thing off, maybe you can use ordinary component screws then.

Cant do that. And even if I did there is no way to get access to the other side of the case (only one side panel is removable).

Try asking HP.

I wasnt quite sure if this system was unique to HP/Compaq or not. It's been a few years since I bought a new case and didnt want to spend 2 hours on hold with tech support to find out that I can buy these at Fryes or somethin.

first problem you did was buying a compaq.

They do have a online support deal that has been helpful for alot of people.

It has to be removable, you jsut dont know how to do it. Just look harder.

I assure you that it is not. The other side of the case and the top are all one piece and they are rivited to the frame front and back. With this system of sliding and locking in the components they have removed the need to access the other side of the case. It is really a nice setup (I wish my other boxes were like this) so long as you have these special screws.

NEVER MIND GUYS. I was going to take a picture of the rivets to show Jeffrey that it wasn't removable when I noticed 8 of these screws attatched to the front of the frame. Thanks Jeffrey!

:thumbsup

Send me a shipping addy to texasdreams-at-adult.com. I've got an old compaq proliant file server that has plenty of those types of screws in it, and I can send you four. :)

Thanks TD, but as I mentioned above I found the 8 extra that came with the box, they were screwed into the front of the frame.
