The Bureau of Justice Statistics said "intimate partner violence" rates fell by more than 50 percent since 1993.

In 1993, there were about 5.8 incidents of nonfatal violence for every 1,000 U.S. residents above the age of 12. By 2004, that number had fallen to 2.6, the agency said. Homicides fell by about 30 percent, from 2,269 in 1993 to 1,544 in 2004.

The Justice Department defines intimate partner violence as violence by a current or former spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend or a same-sex partner.

I would think that many of the beaters have ended up behind bars if you consider the rise in the number of inmates in state and federal penitentiaries since 1993. Shows many are repeat offenders.

I think you'd be surprised how much violence is against MEN .... and how little (or actually, NO) help there is for it. The shelters almost universally refuse to take a man, and the cops tend to laugh if you make a report.

Shit happens, life sucks, get a helmet.

The guys shooting the Cops shows must have much less to film these days.

I got a good g/f whose asshole man likes to grab her and scare the shit out of her. They moved to Portland and were living with his father for a month.. the dumbass grabbed her by her neck..walked her out the front door to fight elsewhere other than in the family house ...the granma called the police..this dude is looking at 16 years right now. He has been in Jail since Sept and is being charged w/ several felonies..one of them being kidnapping (walking her out of the house and to the curb). They are throwing the book at this guy for manhandling his wife...he never had to throw a punch or even put a mark on her...in fact they wont let the wife drop the charges and are trying to serve her with a subpeona to testify against him.. its insane. HOmeboy doesnt need prison..counseling and a swift kick in his ass maybe..
