! Black Metal !!
Black metal started with bands such as Koldun,Hesperus,Bathory, Mayhem, Mercyful Fate, and Hellhammer/Celtic Frost; as well as Venom.
Your favourite black metal band ? |
I had black/death metal caffe bar and since then i never heard any song again from that music niche.
|
|
I have no favourite one... hmm... but I like old albums of Emperor, Immortal, Dark Throne... older albums of Anathema and My Dying Bride may have also elements of back/doom and I like them...
|
Yeahhh,Black metal rocks...
|
I'm pretty sure you posted this thread some time ago.
Running out of subjects ? |
In Living Colour ;)
|
i like ador dorath , immortal tears , dimmu borgir , bal sagaoth and old records from COF
|
Dimmu Borgir is my favourite black metal band of the moment.
|
of the moment, I'd go with Dimmu Borgir or Mayhem
I like COF, but they've worn a little thin with me of late... of course, you can't think of black metal without the classic Venom song "Black Metal"...I remember the first time I heard that song, most of my friends were like "what a bunch of garbage" but a couple of us had a religious experience with it and continued to seek out the heaviest, fastest, sickest stuff we could find... |

But trash music rocks also.
|
Don't know...I've never understood the meaning or the feeling of that genre...ok I know what it's about (at least for me it seems agressivity caused by frustration, etc), but haven't got on with it so far...
I prefer pop-rock (U2, Savage Garden, The Calling) and even pop (Lighthouse Family) |
Naglfar and Satyricon
|
Possessed (7 Churchs is one of the best Black Metal Albums EVER!!),Venom, Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Morbid Angel, Death, Obituary, Destruction, Merciful Fate, Sepultura and SLAYER (yes Slayer and Sepultura were black metal in the beginning) Ive seen every one of those bands play live. I miss the old days seeing them in shitty little clubs, all the metal sluts, too much drugs and booze, God i miss the old Days.
First Show i ever saw was Merciful Fate, Motorhead and Exciter back in 1986 at the Capital Theater in Passaic NJ and been hooked since. Still Love listening to King Diamond, but could never understand how he could get his voice to do that. |

anyway, I have been to more than my fair share of black and/or death metal gigs and have dated a member of a fairly successful UK black metal band in the past. My most recent gig was Celtic Frost and they were the best of recent years. The gigs are getting older...all the same people that were at all the same gigs 10 years ago. The UK scene needs fresh blood to survive.

Black metal started in the early 1980s with bands such as Bathory, Mayhem, Mercyful Fate, and Hellhammer/Celtic Frost; as well as Venom. These bands were Thrash metal bands that formed the prototype for the later second generation of black metal. The second wave of black metal, an essentially Scandinavian movement, started in the late 1980s and early 1990s, primarily in Norway. Black metal has gathered intense criticism from many sectors of society, for its brutal aesthetic, its misanthropic spirit, and the extreme ideology displayed by some musicians working in the National Socialist Black Metal subgenre. However, at the same time it experienced a meteoric rise in popularity among metal fans during the 1990s. |
Slayer were black metal back in the day? That's news to me. And to them, I bet.
