I've already seen that film, and it's indeed very entertaining.

My good friend Sydney grew up about 2KM away from that particular ghetto in the movie. He used to have to take the bus basically right through it. Guy's got some stories to tell for sure.

Agreed, it's a fantastic movie.

BUT....

Even better than the movie, itself, is the documentary film 'bonus feature' on the dvd. I HIGHLY recommend renting the dvd, just to see the doc. It is incredible. :thumbsup

They take cameras deeeeeep in the favelas, and into homes, incredible interviews with gangsters, police officers, etc.

Yes - just amazing. As if the movie didn't portray the living conditions bad enough, seeing the actual ones was just depressing as hell.

Actually the movie was pretty dull compared to the documentary. I'd say rent it just for the documentary. Memorable.

Brilliant Film, hence the reason why its listed in imdb's #18 top voted movie.

yup, the documentary was very good but also made it almost too real

City of Men was fun too but in a different and less violent way.

I didn't know that the same guy directed Constant Gardner until right after I watched it and saw it in the credits. I didn't want to see Constant Gardner because I thought it was going to be the Merchant Ivory type stuff that Ralf Fines has been doing too much of lately. Yet, I ended up really getting into it only to find out he directed it.

Kick ass movie! Really loved it a way back then. But the series from City of god sucks big time!!
