I hate wrapping gifts

I mean I truly, really hate it. If it were up to me, everything would just go under the tree. However, having little nieces who live in town (Amazon wrapped the out of towners for me) means I have to wrap. Really can't even put their stuff in a gift bag as it's just not as much fun for them :( And one of my Mom's gifts didn't come in time so I have to come up with something clever to tell her that.

My Dad asked for stamps so I bought a roll and put them in a Tiffany box - inside the little pouch and everything :thumbsup

If anyone wants to fly to Atlanta, drive a couple of hours, wrap amongst mounds of dog hair, drive back to airport and fly home HOPEFULLY in time to spend Christmas with YOUR family, I'll make it worth your while.

Hell, you can even spend Christmas with us :)

Signed,

The Grinch of Wrapping

Mix into the mess is that I have to compete with a SIL who makes her own wrapping paper :(

OMG, seriously??!! I bought gifts for my out of town nephews and niece and it's going to be plain green mint colored wrapping paper??!! And this is the SIL who makes her own paper. I'll never be invited back to visit :(

BitAudioVideo 12-24-2006 10:52 AM

last year my aunt put 5 little items for me in all these seperate boxes and wrapped the shit out of them, took me forever to open.

i got her back good this year. 8 boxes (one inside the other) and 2 rolls of strapping tape

Peaches 12-24-2006 10:52 AM

And check THIS out - ordered slippers from LandsEnd for brother and SIL. They will wrap hers, but not his, lol.

My family has for YEARS been able to pick out the presents my Dad and I wrap - they look like a 2 year old did them.

LOL, my brother did that to me a few years ago - HUGE box. Ended up being something that fit in my hand and took about an hour to upwrap :thumbsup No way in hell I'm doing THAT.

LMAO... yea you are fucked for sure!

Ok, the mint green isn't so bad for the rest of the year but you think they could go with something that was red/green during the holidays? I mean comon. It's obvious the gifts bought in Dec are for Christmas

And kid's gifts are obviously kid's gifts :( I wouldn't buy an adult a baby doll for "under 3" :(

I ordered almost everything sent here from Amazon. I am SO glad I didn't have them wrap stuff. I would have unwrapped them and rewrapped them!! For the prices they charge, they should have 10 or so options and let you pick. I had no idea everything was going out in plain yucky paper.

My sick mind just pictured a tree where everyone ordered from Amazon with gift wrap and there's nothing but mint green boxes. :1orglaugh

Spunky 12-24-2006 03:03 PM

I let the girls in the mall do it for me

VeriSexy 12-24-2006 03:18 PM

I hear ya..

katiepants 12-24-2006 03:32 PM

Totally with you on that one. I always pick out some lovely paper and tags beforehand and convince myself that this year I will get joy out of wrapping but as always I end up hating it with a passion. And of course I leave it until midnight the night before Xmas which just adds to the stress.

I'm sure my partner was amused by the cacophony of colourful words emanating from the dining room last night.

And of course my gifts look like they've been run over by a truck. I'm just hoping no-one will notice.

Barefootsies 12-24-2006 04:17 PM

I feel your pain Peachy tootsies.

:Oh crap

Scott McD 12-24-2006 04:43 PM

I can't wrap for shit. I just end up pissed off and tape it all together no matter how neat and tidy it looks...

Vitasoy 12-25-2006 03:19 AM

Good thing theres gift wrapping booths

justinsain 12-26-2006 10:23 AM

LMAO I'm just the opposite. I hate to just wrap a gift in it's own box especially if the person asked for it and it's easily recognizable. It's much more fun to get creative and keep them guessing.

This year my sister got an XBOX 360 and I gave her four games to go with it. Instead of just wrapping up the games I came up with this arch thing that I made out of card board. I placed the games in the two uprights and used a big glass plate in the base to give it weight. I hung the ornament in the middle to add to the look and she could keep it and use it on her tree next year.

I put it under the tree with no name tag a week before Xmas and had everyone wondering what it could be and if it was for them. It also caught the curiosity of everyone that stopped by. Pain or pleasure, wrapping presents is what you make out of it.

That sucks.

Fizzgig 12-26-2006 08:24 PM

We did all ours at the last minute.

Peaches 12-26-2006 10:47 PM

I still have to wrap again - Christmas part 3 is Thurs night (don't ask).

AND I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WRAPPED THIS YEARS.

Screw that. Next year bags for everyone but the kids. And they have some neat Christmas boxes too - snagged a few of those to reuse ;)

reynold 12-26-2006 11:41 PM

I choose paper giftbags instead.. :)

My Mom does that which is great because then I get a bunch for NEXT year :) We actually recycle them for several years. Just use a sticky tag instead of filling out the paper tag thing and cover over it the next year :thumbsup

I, apparently, was the only who wrapped during that gathering.

We have another one on the 28th and I KNOW my brother will have everything wrapped. He LOVES to wrap. And no, he won't do it for me :(

We (OK, me and my sister) decided next year - NO GIFTS. We are going somewhere instead - a cruise, ski resort, etc. This will never work for my mother. She buys us about 40 "little" gifts each year. However, one of them was a laser pointer and I forgot how much fun they are with dogs :1orglaugh
