My new NAZI Tshirt... WTF!?
 

I just picked up some sweet OBEY factory seconds tshirts at the swap meet.

I'm not really a t-shirt guy, but I love Shepard Fairey and these are really soft.

So I like one of the shirts so much, I take a self portait in it.
It's got a cool "Day of the Dead" skull on it and says "defiant since 89."

I posted it online and someone said, "I'd be careful wearing that shirt..."

Don't know about the nazi shit, but OBEY's designs kick ass, I have a shitload of obey shirts and hoodies.

If it reminded one person of the holocaust I would be horrified.

when i was just a smart assed, punk kid (as opposed to the smart assed punk adult i am now) - i had a shirt that looked like a bands shirt that said "Adolf Hitlers European Tour" with a pic of hitler, map of Europe and listed all the cities and dates etc. like any other shirt for a music group.

anyway.... it was very insensitive... but i didn't really consider that i would be offending anyone

until one day, in a mall in Anchorage Alaska an old man walked up to me with tears in his eyes and asked me how i would feel if i saw my family executed right in front of me as he did. i was speechless. he didn't say anything else.. he just stood there looking straight into my eyes, as i did his. for the first time, it really occured to me how all of the attention getting stupidity could affect and even deeply hurt others. in just a few seconds, he was able to teach me a very valuable life lesson about consideration and respect. i got it. he could see that i got it. i went home and i threw it away.

This is a very important factor here, It is not a nazi symbol at all, it is just as harmless as the Iron Cross that appears on a huge percent of clothing worn today by men and women alike such as west coast choppers et all.

If you like the shirt , wear it with pride and do not let any special interest groups or individuals push you to do otherwise.

Well the funny thing is now in Germany,even if you wear anti svastika/nazi symbols,you can still end on court beacuse people doesnt know symbols which you wear on your t-shirt(svastika in garbage,crossed svastika)

Obviously you are a troll, but I have learned that far more people know the skull than I thought.
I've already had several people send me horrible stories about their families in response to seeing the shirt. I can't fault anyone for being sensitive.

Hal - I personally had zero clue what the problem was with the shirt until looking at the links. I reckon most if not all would have NFI what it's about. Shirt looks good on you so wear it.

Jeez, i have that same shirt and in THIS color, i had no idea.

i wouldn't think too deeply inot it personally, i highly doubt you'd ever run across anyone who would tsake notice and be generally offended. it is your own personal chocie what to do though, and if making the decision to not wear the shirt makes you feel better froma moral standpoint, well, god for you. do what you think is best. i personally would go on wearing the shirt, it looks badass to me..
