Making MGP larger video size than 320x240 = convert better?
If you upped your videos from 320x240 to like 640x480 in a typical movie gallery post and effictively doubled your bandwidth bill, is the conversion rate worth it? Do conversions shoot up, or is it no biggie?

I don't think it does.

Actually I rather think it would increase filesize by 4 times, as each video frame (=image) would be twice as high and twice as wide as before. Obviously if you stay with the same runtime and quality of the video file.
So if you're actually using 2MB videos could end up with 8MB vids, therefore I'd rather choose something in between, like i.e. 3-4MB filesize. And I don't think that it would be worth it, as it would increase conversion rates only a little bit IMHO, but I've never tried it :) |

I don't submit galleries, so this wouldn't be from personal experience. But i figure if you're going to double go from 320 x 240 to 640 x 480 pixels (increasing the size of the video 4 fold, which has already been pointed out), you could probably get away with having shorter videos, unless there was some sort of minimum length imposed by the site you're submitting to.

just for the record increasing the frame size (320x240 to 640x480) does NOT increase the file size, only if you were to increase the bitrate would the filesize get any larger.

and increasing bitrate increases the filesize exponentially - for instance, I downloaded some video up to 4000bps and full size - all videos were 7 minutes long - the largest video was 251 megs the smallest was 8 megs.
The question really becomes, how much downloading wait time is the surfer prepared to wait before clicking out? |
