So my neighbour just called me...
 

I live on my own 8 acres. My neighbour has his own 30 acres. His house is literally 1000 feet from my house. Can't be seen through the trees.

I just bought a new 12 gauge today, it is a nine shot Mossberg (590A1). I blasted off probably 20 rounds in the backyard in the dark, half drunk, just to make sure the gun works. It wasn't cheap, I wanted to make sure I didn't piss my money away on rubbish.

I get a call from my neighbour asking if I am alright. He knew damn well I was alright. I told him I just bought a new shotgun and was testing it out in the backyard. He said to let him know in the future because it scared him and he was about to call the police. Sorry, but there is no gun crime around here except for the odd person poaching deer with legal guns. Did he think I was in a shoot out?

I say he was full of shit and was just trying to tell me not to shoot guns off in my backyard, even though I own 8 acres and he is the only neighbour.

What say you? Should I not shoot off my 12 gauge in the night, or is he just an arrogant prick that thinks he can tell me what to do?

shrug, depends on your history with the neighbor..

without knowing previous encounters, i'd say he was genuinely just looking out for you because he would've just called the cops without contacting you if he was trying to fuck with you.

sober up, and sleep on it.

Why not wait till the daytime to shoot the gun?

If i never heard gunshots coming from my neighbors house, and then all of a sudden heard gunshots coming from their house late at night, ya, id probably make sure everyone was cool. However if from this point on is he complains id probbaly tell him to fuck off and go fuck himself

sounds like he's just being honest. if i was your neighbor, I'd kindly ask you to ride over about 7 1/2 acres away from my house THEN shoot it off lol I think he was being nice, not mean. Go to bed, wake up and read this thread again. :)

And the Mossberg 590 series are cheap. Not dissing them, I have a 590 myself. Parkerized finished, ventilated rib guard, speed feed stock, and a bayonet mount. It's a fun shotgun but......It's also a cheap one.
