Affiliate reps for major sponsors that say they will do something and never do.....

doesn't it just drive you nuts?

there is one guy in particular that went out of his way to contact me about pushing traffic to their program, I told him I wasn't going to send traffic til they did something about a particular tool they had, improving it so that it was at least somewhat useful

he gave me the "oh yeah, we are totally redoing that, it is going to be better than anyone elses, give me two weeks"......now, 3 months later, still nothing and he won't even respond to me in threads about it....I emailed the programs mail email and they said they weren't working on anything like that, and the promo tool was exactly how it was going to stay

my questions

1. why would any program hire someone that was just a "yes" man, handing out promises that he knows he can't keep?

2. why would he flat out lie to me, knowing that eventually it would be found out?

3. why are affiliate reps such idiots a lot of the time? don't programs know it hurts more than helps in the long run?

Follow up is very hard for some people especially if they are not organized.

WiredGuy 12-21-2006 05:12 PM

It's an affiliate market out there, if you have traffic, there is always a company willing to do whatever it takes to get it. If this sponsor won't help, tell them tough luck and move on.

hm....not sure where that came from

I am talking about lying to an affiliate so he will send more traffic

Juilan 12-21-2006 05:15 PM

Ones that drive me nuts are when it's time to pay they get dodgy.

well, there are so few sponsors doing this form of promotions well, I wanna give people time to get it done properly

but fuck, flat out lying to keep me hanging on? well, he can just fuck his dog now....no chance I am ever giving that program a shot again

I have honestly never had that happen... I pick my sponsors VERY carefully though

Agent 488 12-21-2006 05:17 PM

they'd have less problems if they hired their reps from places like this:

http://www.contrac***hange.com/

:2 cents:

munki 12-21-2006 05:19 PM

That's crap, especially if it was a simple enough thing to pull together like RSS. Not sure, but I have a hunch it might relate to that.

Looks like somebody just lost a pretty reliable traffic source.

possibly

regardless, there needs to be more policing and monitoring of who and what is helping us with our traffic

you have a sales guy yapping about an operational/tech issue..
thats never good...

Big_D 12-22-2006 02:17 AM

indeed lying to an affiliate sucks. if i cant do something for an affiliate i let them know, if i can i do the best i can to get it moving.

Sometimes that is a bad thing too. Then you get someone who constantly bugs the crap out of you. I don't have any complaints at all about reps, my complaints are for those companies that don't have reps and it takes 2-3 weeks to get a simple response to an issue.

So far, the best affiliate support I've come across are:

Pussy Cash
Spank Bank
Traffic Gigolos

I would rather tell an affiliate I am unable to get them what they need then to lie to them. I have found if i can explain why to them 99% of the affiliates out there will understand, they might not send traffic to the sites but at least they are not pissed. If I don't have the tool they need then they weren't going to send traffic to me in the first place.

I enjoy getting suggestions and feedback from affiliates because the more of those i get the better the program becomes. Thanks for your help in the past Jace :)
