Audi vs BMW vs Acura

I know the GFY crowd has tons of advice when it comes to cars. I've suddenly found myself in need of a new car (nothing like a broken clutch for the holidays) I've been looking at the Audi S4 for a little while, but the BMW 3 series and Acura TL are in the same price range, so I'm considering them all.

Anybody have any experience with the new Audi S4 (or A4), BMW 328 or 335, or the Acura TL? Anything is helpful .. have to make a decision ASAP :)

Depends what you want out of a car, each offers a slightly different driver's experience. The S4 or A4 are great if you have a need for AWD, but remember understeer is a factor if you're an aggressive driver. The BMW is a well rounded car and I believe available AWD on some models? The 335 is pimp. Not a big Honda fan, so I have nothing to say on the Acura.

Read what Consumer Reports says about the TL.

I love the look of the Audi body, if you live in Europe with winding roads you will love the grip of the quattro on the S4 or if you live in a snow region. The BMW has a heavy steering wheel, I just don't like how the 3 series feels.

Well .. I live in flat sunny Florida, so the all wheel drive isn't such an important option here. I have been driving a sports car for the past 5 years .. so handling and power are nice.

There's just too many bimmers in florida, I'd still go with the S4. Keep in mind though, it loses a lot of value. But it's a much more fun car to drive.

Then compare the 335 to the TL in consumer reports and by test drives. If you want to spend more, Audi can tip the scale in performance, but the A4 and S4 are very lacking. At least in my experience and what I demand from a "performance" car.

Get the Acura - it will last forever :)

There are some excellent deals on E46 M3's that are coming in off lease now.
I was at our local dealership a few weeks ago and they had 4 of them on the lot.Mileage was low, they offer the additional warranty and the prices were all in the low-mid 30's.
Bmws depreciate too.I traded my 03' M3smg in last summer on a new 06 E55amg which stickered at nearly 100k.The M3 cost me 61k when I bought it new,and I got 34k on trade. And my M3 was superclean and low mileage.

Audi all the way

I would go with the Audi.

Plus they have a real sweet end of the year lease deals going on.

I miss you .. I hope you're well.

I learned to drive on an acura .. but I haven't been in one in over 10 years, the consumers report review sounds really good for the acura.

Acura's TL, based on the Honda Accord, is among the highest-scoring cars we've tested in the upscale-sedan category. The TL is one of a few models in this class that provide a near-ideal blend of comfort, convenience, and some sportiness, all at a reasonable price. It delivers taut, agile handling, though it's not as nimble as some European sports sedans. The car is very quick yet attains commendable fuel economy. The TL has a firm but comfortable and quiet ride. A wide turning circle and poor snow traction from the standard tires are two of the few negatives. Interior quality is impressive. A higher horsepower Type-S version is new for 2007.

Doing great, Erica - thanks :) In the process of learning to knit, reading A LOT, traveling, still in school, playing with real estate and will eventually have a "fun only" (no ads but if you have biz, you can still push it in msgs) board open. I have you on ICQ and will send you the URL when it's up and running :)

And I stubbed my toe - can I get some cookies? :thumbsup

Happy Holidays and let us know what you get - WITH PICTURES!!

I have owned 3 bmws, and I just bought an Audi A4. I love both cars, but I still prefer a nice bmw. better road stance and performance.

I love the Audi tho!

GoTigers 12-23-2006 04:52 AM

Audi S4 (or A4)

d00t 12-23-2006 04:57 AM

i would vote the 335.. looks sweet!

Vlad 12-23-2006 05:29 AM

I'd go for 335 in your shoes =)

TattleGuy 12-23-2006 09:00 AM

FWIW, I've owned all three brands and the BMW has been my hands down favorite

My personal experiences...

2001 Acura RL: value and reliability
2003 Audi A6: comfortable but a performance dog
2006 BMW 530: comfortable plus performance and handling unrivaled.
