Whats the point of only allowing 3 minutes for someone to edit a post?

Sometimes you need a few minutes to find a link or to re-write something. Why only 3 minutes?

3 minutes so people cant go back on what they say.
If you need to find a link then find a link befor you hit post? seems easy enough for me.
